I am surprised at how easy the commute in was. Roads outside of Northeast philly were good and the train was on time.
I saw a dumba$$ in heels fall. Hello the train platforms are not plowed and every surface is slippery. There's 4+ inches of snow on the ground. WEAR SNOW BOOTS.
I was lazy last night. I picked books up from the library, popped into the grocery store for rotisserie chicken, made sweet potato casserole, ran the dishwasher, then planted my arse on the couch all night. I read in bed and fell asleep around 11:30.
This morning I got up at 6:45, watched the news, got ready, packed snacks for the day, unloaded the dishwasher, let the dogs out and wiped down the kitchen. Big ups to MFD for digging both cars out and getting me off to work on time.
I miss being able to be productive in the mornings since I started this job. When I worked 10 minutes from home, it was easy to get stuff done in the morning. Working 45 and taking a train are not conducive to that. I should start getting up earlier but normally I take the 7:37 train so I'd have to get up super early. Today I took the 8:22.
I treated myself to Au Bon Pain for breakfast. I am considering going back for lunch to get some of their soup.
Re: Are you out there Wednesday?
I feel like the commute really eats into my productivity, as well. This is the second time this week I decided to just stay home and write, since I get started during breakfast and dont' see the point in stopping for an hour to ride into work just to do something I can get done at home.
And GET the soup, it's so friggin good. I love Au Bon Pain.
I don't have an excuse for not being productive in the mornings. Other than my laziness.
This morning was nice. 2 hr delay at work so I got to take my time. I got to watch so much of the Today Show this morning that I was lucky enough to see Al Roker doing the robot. What a day! :-P
I totally feel on you on the commute. A part of me wishes I worked closer to home (20 minute ride to the train & if I catch the express a 30 minute ride) but then again, I really do like my job and feel like I'm in a good position here. It helps to be able to work from home when absolutely needed, though (like today). I also hope to utilize that more often once we have kids.
I love Au Bon Pain also, but it's so damn pricey!

Au Bon Pain is pricey, but I think everything in Center City is. It pisses me off that there are not more WaWas.
I have an under 10 minute ride to the train, and then a 35 which always seems to be 40 or 45 minute ride in. Same on the way home. I always thought people who did an hour commute each way were crazy. How did I get to be one of them?
My previous two jobs were 10 minute and 15 minute driving commutes. I would LOVE to have that back, but the pay is more downtown.
I have a 15 minute drive commute. If I could get a better paying job I would glady do a 1 hour commute.
So, I got a ticket back on 11/11/10 for blocking an intersection. I was told that I would receive the citation in the mail with the fine due, etc. Fast forward to yesterday and I had not received anything. I called in this morning and the fine is $276 and is due on the 18th. WTF?!?!?!? The clerk said she could extend it one month to 2/18/11. I asked about traffic school and she said this was not an option. I would need to schedule a court appearance and goe before the commisioner to request to do traffic school. Sigh, this is just great!
I am around, in a kindergarten class this morning... it's not the easiest, but I guess I won't complain cause it is a lot better than yesterday's class. Sheesh.
My commute varies depending on what school I am teaching at that particular day, but to the district I am at most often it is about a 30 minute drive. Not too bad as long as you don't get behind some slowa$$ on a two lane highway where you can't pass. That really annoys me, especially if I am running behind a little like I was this morning.
At home with DH today - not going anywhere when there is nearly two feet of new snow on the ground! Our neighbor came over to snow blow our driveway and a path down our walkway, which was AMAZING.
We shoveled off our decks and are going back out in a bit to clear our cars off now that the snow has let up a bit. Other than that, we're just hanging out for the day.
Currently listening to the dog have a cow while the Directv repairman is here (we're just a bundle of problems lately). Working from home since we had a delayed start and the roads were still crappy when I would have needed to leave - thank goodness my boss is flexible.
FIL's birthday is today. MIL, SIL and her family are taking him out tonight - to the restaurant he bought us all gift cards from for Christmas (if that makes sense), so they don't have to actually pay to take him out. When MIL told K about this plan last week, he told her it was crappy and cheap of her, and that we'd just take him out on our own - so K and I took FIL out for dinner last night. So, we won't be having dinner with them tonight, or listening to the bickering over the check, or the misbehaving children. Oh, darn.
