Bridal Shower Help (Feb!!!!!)

So I'm the MOH for my best friend. They are getting married in September. She called yesterday to tell me that the only time before the wedding they will be in town is the first weekend in Feb (less than a month away)! So this means that the bridal shower must be done that weekend! I need some theme ideas so I can at least get the invitations done and sent out. I *think* we're going to have it at FIL's condo in Treasure Island. I say condo but it's really a gorgeous 3 story townhouse on the canal. Her wedding is at the Aquarium and she's keeping that kind of theme. She loves all things sharks and marine life but I want to do something different from the wedding.

Anyone have any ideas? Suggestions? Valium?

Re: Bridal Shower Help (Feb!!!!!)

  • My girls decided to do a tea party theme for my shower, it was fun and a cute idea.

A wedding that I was supposed to be in that called off we were doing a Winter Wonderland theme because the bride truly enjoys Christmas.

What about doing a Lingerie theme.. If I remember right Moonstone had one and then they created a "Menu" of the outfits for her DH to choose from on the wedding night.

OH my gosh, I totally forgot about that.  Yes, at my bachelorette party, we "named" each piece of lingerie and then my MOH created a menu where H had to pick one which I would wear for the night.  Sounds like something I should pull out for my 1 year anniversary coming up.

... that being said, I don't think it is appropriate for an afternoon hour bridal shower.

I had three bridal showers -

    1. Wild flower theme - brunch served - beautiful wildflower centerpieces, invites, etc.
    2. Couples Christmas Shower - bring an ornament (that's no help)
    3. No theme really - just classy shower.  It was very nice at a brunch spot in New Jersey.

    ---

Since it's February, why not a pink/red theme and play off Valentine's Day?   Okay, kinda cheesy.  I don't think you really have to have a 'theme' as long as the food is good and the decor is classy.

  • I think the lingerie theme is a cute idea.

My wedding was in February and my sister did a love theme.  She bought everything having to do with valentines day for the shower (heart plates, napkins, candies, etc).  My sister made cupcakes with pink and red frosting, and mini chicken salad sandwiches, meatballs, veggies, etc.  It was so yummy.

  • I didn't even think of V-day! That's really good! I could totally do that but tone it down a tad. Maybe light pink and lavender? The bride's birthday is also in Feb so I plan to do a shower/birthday cake.

  • I recently threw a bridal shower for my cousin and did a margarita theme. I used aqua and lime as the colors, served 2 different kinds of margaritas (classic and "something blue"), had margarita cupcakes, margarita fruit dip, margarita body scrub as game prizes, and margarita lip gloss as favors. It was super fun. I love me some margaritas.

I do love the Valentine's Day/love theme idea! Personally, I love the purple/red color combo if you didn't want to do traditional red and pink (although my wedding was red and pink so clearly I love that, too!). Since my cousin loves languages, I had also considered doing something with "love" in all different languages. Maybe that could be another touch to a V-day theme? Just brainstorming!

  • Since it is February there will be so many valentine's day decorations and candy out so I think like all the girls are saying, that would be easy and cute.  You could do a small candy buffet since it is the time of year when all the red and pink candy comes out, and you could do a signature drink in pink.  It doesn't have to be a Vday theme per say, but just that kind of romantic color scheme.

For my friend's shower in March we are doing a shoe theme by the way because she loves shoes.  We got high heel shoe invites and are doing a shoe themed cake and we are even all chipping in to get her a a gc to one of her favorite shoe stores.  :)

  • Yes!! You guys are awesome! So many great ideas! I'm really excited to throw an awesome shower for her since she did such a great job with mine! Thank you so much!
