Do you think going from Black Swan to an Ashton Kutcher romcom in which she discusses her period kills any Oscar hopes? (Side note: Why does the awesome Cary Elwes get stuck in tripe like this and Saw?)
She was such a good dresser. Now pg, she's wearing potato sacks with bedazzled collars and ruffles. She's barely showing. Just wear normal stuff.
Re: Natalie Portman
I would like to know this too. Did they pay her eleventy billion dollars?

Am I the only one who thinks it would be fun to hang out with Ashton Kutchner? He's rather likable in a doofus way.
My understanding is that movies like Black Swan pay shiit and it's the date and action flicks that cover your mansion's mortgage. What I can't figure is why the studios pour money into hack jobs that flop more often than not.
Or why they figure that because a movie with, elves or ballerinas or someshit means that people want movies about elves and ballerinas nshit, make 12 dozen crappy ones and then wonder why they flopped. It couldn't be that the market was responding to a carefully crafted original film.

Sometimes I wonder if scientists have never seen a sci-fi movie before. "Oh yes, let's create a super species of deer. NOTHING COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG." I wonder if State Farm offers a Zombie Deer Attack policy. -CaliopeSpidrman

Groomz, that's actually a really good point. And she has said that Black Swan almost killed her. I guess this is like being paid for taking time off.

I'm not sure a movie like this doesn't do career damage. I'd bet some of the old school Academy members won't vote for a Best Actress with this trailer on every few minutes.
I'm a big fan of entertainment for entertainment and fluff. Surely she could have found a light movie that doesn't look so bad.
Oh, yes, I think so too, but still. Why would even a pre-crazy ballerina Natalie Portman do this movie? Why would any A list actress?
Amen sister! But I also think he's totally dreamy so I would definitely sign up to smooch him.
Not that I am a Hollywood expert, but I think often people sign on for a project and then the concept/costars/everything changes but you're still obligated to do the work.
Plus, everyone likes money. And Sandra Bullock won an Oscar in the same timeframe that she did All About Steve, so I don't think it's a career killer.

uh, is nobody remembering that movie where she birthed a baby in walmart?
if THAT movie (or the wretched excuse for a southern accent she used) didn't put her out of acting commission forever...then nothing will. ever.
also, I think she is a dreadful actress. although I haven't seen black swan, but I sort of want to, except I don't like natalie portman.
SERIOUSLLYYYYYYYY
But really, I don't care if legit actors want to be involved in stupid movies. For the money, to maintain fame, as a favor, whatever. I don't think doing less-than-genius movies should negate an incredible performance in another movie.
I kind of love that movie. Not as, like, any sort of cinematic masterpiece. But I love it. And the book.

It's the only movie I've ever like Portman in. The accent was godawful, but at least she seemed warm. I usually find her robotic and think her real voice sounds oddly accented in a way that usually doesn't fit the character.
Me toooooo! Forney!!!
I think she's kind of a shiity actress.
I bet her FUPA's name is Shane, like the gunslinger/drifter of literature.--HappyTummy
I stand behind my love of Garden State. Love.
Speaking of sh*tty movies and Natalie Portman, has anybody seen Black Swan? I am planning on going to a movie this weekend for the first time in a decade (not really), and I am trying to decide between this and Country Strong (yes, I like crap movies...and Gossip Girl...and Gweneth Paltrow). Can anybody make my decision for me?
I have not seen a movie since Harry Potter, but I'd go for Black Swan or True Grit or The King's Speech. I want to see those three. I'd save Country Strong for the Netflix.
Also, Natalie Portman was awesome in V for Vendetta. I really liked her in Garden State except for that scene in her bedroom where she makes the weird "Blah blah blah" noise. That seemed really forced and unnatural. But really, I don't think I started loving her until this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KpMPFGBtE7Q.
