I rarely go to sf, and never on a weeknight. But dh gifted me a cooking class at sur la table for tonight! The class is in union square at 6pm. Is there parking around there? I leave napa at 4, but I have no idea which is the best way to go.
-take pleasant hill Bart to sf. Not even sure which exit. Is Bart safe at night alone?
- drive 680S through the tunnel (grew up in mtz so 680is a comfort thing)
- 80 through berkeley

Re: WWYD: Getting to SF
There are definitely parking lots all around union square, but it is far from cheap! If money is a concern, then BART is definitely the way to go. For me, it would come down to a convenience/comfort thing.
Personally, I would feel fine taking BART at night by myself; the Powell station is on Market, and only 2 blocks from union square. But, if at the end of the night you'd rather be able to just jump in your car than walk in the cold, wait for a train, etc., then maybe drive instead.
Either way, have fun!
it's free in some but not all places. finding a spot in union square is unlikely. a garage would be a better option.
it's free in some but not all places. finding a spot in union square is unlikely since it's such a tourist destination. a garage would be a better option. all things being equal i'd probably take bart. no dealing with crappy traffic that way.
