It's almost Valentine's Day...planning anything special?

I actually have a Birthday dinner to go to on next Friday night (It's a girls night B-day at a restaurant, and H is happy to send me alone!), but I'm hoping that H and I can do something romantic on Saturday...maybe a movie and lunch...or dinner...not really sure.

Any good ideas?

  • I'm hoping to have a baby!!! :D  No plans other than that although a romantic dinner out does sound amazing....but I wish I could have a glass of wine or champagne with it!

  • Haha yeah Rebecca definitely has the most unique V day plan yet! OMG! Speaking of, I just realized something - my cousin K in Pennsylvania is also due to have her baby on Valentine's Day! EEEEEE!!!!!! =) I think she's having a girl too!

Now as for DH and me - we always do a dinner and movie date night for V-day but we never celebrate it right on V-day because the restaurants are always so nutso. Since it's on a Monday, I think we'll end up having our date night that Saturday. As far as the calendar looks, we don't have Amanda that weekend.

  • Wow! I hadn't even thought about Valentine's Day yet! Oops! : ) I did just buy tickets to the Showtime's Championship Boxing Event that they are bringing to a city about 40 miles away (can't believe it is going to be in Nebraska!!!). I am really excited about it. But, that is for Feb 26th, so I won't let the hubby count that as anything "Valentine's Day." : ) Haha!

  • Hehe! Yup, it will be pretty exciting if she decides to make her debut then....but if not I'm having a really boring valentines day!  Probably just eating ice cream and watching movies so I know that you ladies have other things planned that are much more exciting than that!!!

  • We will probably go out to dinner that weekend. Other than that, we will be announcing the pregnancy to our family and friends via Valentine's cards signed by future baby R. and his or her first picture, which of course means we will both be on the phone constantly from the calls we are sure to get. Once we know everyone has received the cards, we plan to make a public announcement to our other friends via Facebook.

  • Well no baby birthing or announcing for us haha :)

Our dating anniversary is the 18th and our engagement anniversary is the 21st so we usually combine it all into one nice night out and we don't have to worry about going out on Vday since its sure to be crazy!

  • We've never been huge Valentine's Day celebraters. Probably will either go out or make a great dinner and have some wine....just like every other weekend lol

THIS!  Maybe I'm being a downer about it, but I kinda hate Vday. When I was single, Vday made me feel horrible and lonely and when I was in relationships, there was so much pressure to have the perfect Vday.  It all just seems so forced.  Hey, I wouldn't mind some chocolate or flowers, but other than that, it'll be a typical weekend for us.

  • Dh works on Valentines day, and the whole weekend before it, so we will probably go to dinner sometime during the week after Valentines day and maybe a movie or bowling...Who knows, we have never made it a huge event.

Funny you say that Alli.....when I was single I hated V day too (and mind you, I didn't meet my DH until I was 35).

I think the most fun V day of my "single time" was back in 2003.  I used to hang out on this Detroit clubbing website back then. A bunch of the people on the forum planned a big club night at this place downtown and I decided to join them.  I was first going to meet up with 3 other girls from the site for dinner in Greektown, then we were going to join everyone else at the club.  A guy friend ended up tagging along with one of the girls and he bought dinner for all 5 of us.  Then we met up with about 100 other "friends" at the club and had a wonderful time!  That was when I realized that V-day was going to be whatever I made of it.

Of course I like it better now that I have my hubby, and that's one of 2 days a year that he gives me flowers (the other is always on our anniversary of our first date, where he gives me a red rose for every year we've been together).  =)

  • I told DH since there's christmas, then valentines day, then our anniversary, then my bday then his all in 6 months lets not do gifts. I will cook a really nice dinner and make the tart cherry pie (or a different one if he wants) he likes for Valentines day, then he can take us out for our anniversary. We don't have the kids on Vday or the weekend prior, so I'll probably do it Sunday. Good reminder to start planning!

  • We are not big into VDay.  Even with past BF's I have never done much for VDay if anythign.  Maybe we will go out to dinner over the weekend, but my bday is also 5 days before, so maybe it will just be one thing for both.
  • Usually we go out to dinner for Valentine's day, but this year I am most likely flying to Europe that afternoon for work. My choices were to miss V-Day or miss DH's bday the following week, so I went with missing V-Day.

We'll probably do a little something the weekend before. I like celebrating it since it's the one day a year that DH has to be a little romantic.

  • I am throwing a baby shower for my MOH on the 12th.  We might catch a movie that night.  Otherwise, we have tickets to see a local theaters performance of Phantom of the Opera on the 17th.

  • Actually, now that I think about it, I have volleyball the night of Valentine's Day...and Jeff KNOWS I'm not skipping it! Hahah! So, maybe we will do dinner before or after the game, depending on what time it is scheduled for. So romantic, huh? But, at least I do usually get flowers on Valentine's Day...I never really get them any other time.

  • We don't do anything on V-Day, if anything it's just an excuse for us to go out to eat.
