So I'm wondering if my "mom" instinct is right....

Midwife said yesterday at my weekly appointment that baby's head was low.  She did use the words engaged, but low.  Does this really mean anything at this point in the game?  I haven't had a ton of contractions (actually, I don't think I've had any for a few days) and pretty much feel the same I have for a while other than the extra pressure down there from him being so low now.

  • It could or it couldn't...sorry!!!!

Advice you didn't ask for and definitely don't have to take...you will drive yourself nuts if you look for signs of labor!!!

May's head was low from 36 weeks until 42 weeks when they had to coax her out with candy (or pitocin, whatever).

lol....I think I'm already driving myself nuts!  I know, I need to just stop and relax.  Seriously, I hoped I wouldn't be one of those girls!

I was blindsided by the fact I was one of those girls! I couldn't believe it! I annoyed myself constantly!  I said the entire pregnancy I was going to go late but as soon as I hit full term I timed every twinge and cramp. My Lord.

  • I don't think it means anything. He could hang out down there for weeks, or he could bounce back up, or maybe you'll go into labor today. Who knows? It's all completely unpredictable.

ETA: However, I think mother's intuition is right more times than not. I had contractions 10 minutes apart for at least 3 hours every evening starting at 38 weeks. I thought I was going into labor every time, even though I was sure I would still be pregnant on my induction date.

  • My mom instinct stunk.  For the first few months I was sure I was going to have Amelia early.  Somewhere along the way I got convinced she was going to be late.  From the start I was positive she was going to be a big baby.  Of course, I ended up being induced just over three weeks early, and she was only 6lbs 13oz.

  • You know what amazes me??  The fact that I for sure will have him within the next month.  However, that sounds like FOREVER to me!  Why are these last weeks so hard?  Gotta be the anticipation of finally meeting them, right? Oh, and maybe the fact that you're at your most uncomfortable state of being ever.....

  • That's exciting that he's "engaged" no matter what :)  You're soooooo close!

I think I'll be one of those girls too. I feel a little more like I'm on the side of going a tad early, but it could just be wishful thinking. I keep telling myself that I'll be going to 42 weeks though because I don't want to be sad when it doesn't happen early and they have to evict her. She has dropped slightly this week and I feel a lot more pressure. I've also been getting these weird shooting sensations down there and have been having a lot more BH's. I feel like I am so close, yet so far!!

    March 17th. Just saying.

(When you first announced your EDD I was like OMG! That's my anniversary!!! And then I remembered that we were all married in March and it's not just my anniversary...it's a lot of people's anniversaries.)

Also, my candy during labor was the epidural. Some days I wish I could just get one for the hell of it. It was so lovely. (And I went into the labor wanting to go naturally...I'm not ashamed.)

  • I had no inkling I was going to go early. My parents were plotting travel in order to get here in time, and they were planning on coming like a month before my due date and I kept saying that they would be here for 6 weeks and I'd end up getting induced. Yeah...not so much. Instead I called them and said "I think I'm in labor, we're going to the hospital." and they started packing the car. An hour later I called back and told Mom & Dad that they couldn't stop labor and they left immediately to drive from Florida to Kansas. They definitely didn't make it in time. I still get choked up thinking about it, I was terrified. So bright side here...I would have killed to go full term - YAY that your little bun wants to be fully baked!!

Weird how it's so different for everyone - I haaated the epidural, it was way too strong. And I honestly didn't think the contractions were all that bad, I just got the epidural for Drew's sanity and because I was afraid labor would suddenly get way worse and I would be past the point of no return ( I waited until the last possible minute to get the epidural as it was. They kept asking "Do you want it yet?" and I kept saying "no, just tell me when I'm at an 8 and I'll decide then"). If I do an epidural next time I'm going to tell them right away to do a SLOW drip.
