Ryley Update & Vibes Request
So, Mr Ryley has been continuing on with his chemo, and things were looking great, he was scheduled to begin his last round any day now. However, his platelet count has recently dropped, by a lot.
One of the ideas that's being tossed around as a cause is a relapse.
Obviously, we do not want this to be the case, so if you could spare a moment, please send some non-leukemia-totally-benign-cause vibes off to the little guy.

Lots of vibes coming his way. Hoping it's something benign.
I know you won't know the answer to this and I'm sure they would look into this possibility, but has he been receiving heparin at all? Whenever I see patients have a dramatic dip in their platelet counts, and they've been on heparin, my first thought goes to Heparin Induced Thrombocytopenia.

beth, that drug sounds familiar, so I want to say that yes, he's on/has been on it, but I can't find anything on their CarePages site about it. I know he's had several hemoglobin and platelet transfusions, but they generally happen in the middle of a chemo cycle when his counts have been low for a while.
We'll just not tell H about this little fact, m'kay?
