Re: has anyone been to schmagels in st. aug?
lol, next time i'm down there for one of dh's baseball games i'm going to go. there's a BOGO coupon in the entertainment book, too.
if i go before you do, i'll let you know how it is! jax is lacking homemade, non-chain bagel places!
Please do. There's a Jewish deli/bagel place called "Let's Nosh" that opened on San Jose Boulevard behind Krystal. I had a deli sandwich and fries there and it definitely met my deli/diner standards but the bagels we got were a little disappointing so I'd love to find a good place.
I agree about Let's Nosh. Food was pretty good, bagels were not.
I think there's an Einstein bagels downtown maybe? I think Einstein is better than Panera, but still not as good as a deli/bakery.
BTW Lucky, my Grandpa was a baker for 40 years at a small bakery in East Northport, and good God do I miss the chocolate coffee cakes and pizza crumbs... it's hard to find anything like it!
I know! But I do have to say after moving from LI to Cincinnati, Ohio has the absolute worst pizza and bagels. At least FL has tons of transplants who can do a great job at replicating the stuff. I appreciate it much more here.
OH!!! If you're ever on St. George St. in St. Augustine, you have to go to Pizza Time, they have SUPER authentic by the slice pizza. The guy is from LI and it really is like, spot-on!
