I was just thinking on the way to work that NATE IS ALMOST ONE!!!!!! YAY!!!! How exciting?!?!?! What new things is he doing now??
Re: **Rachel**
He's really, really clingy!
He takes 3 bottles a day, plus 3 meals and a snack of table food. We'll transition from formula to whole milk next week. He usually has 2 2-hour naps and sleeps 12 hours at night.
He loves taking things out of the kitchen cabinets and putting them into other cabinets. He also loves opening and closings doors, drawers, books, containers...
He took his first step the week after Christmas, but no more since then. He can stand up on his own. He walks while holding on to things or pushing things.
He says Mama and Dada/Daddy/Da'y (Rodgers has many names), and he said Elmo once, in context, so I think he knew what he was saying.
He has 8 teeth and sometimes acts like his mouth is hurting, but not always, so I'm not sure if he's starting to work on his molars or not.
He loves throwing balls and trying to catch them. And he loves anything that makes noise.
He is tall and skinny. We'll find out on Monday how big he is. My prediction is that his weight will be under 50th %ile this time, but his height will be higher, and his head is still enormous.
sorry to butt in...
he's such a good sleeper!!! it was fun to read his "progress report"
He is usually a good sleeper. We started sleep training at 4 months, but I think it worked so well because we were lucky. There are still nights he wakes up at 3 am and thinks it's time to play and days he screams instead of napping, but that's not very often.
That was a lot of fun to read. Thanks!!!
Derelle loves to sleep to which is wonderful!
Nate is such a busy body!! Super cute!
It should be interesting to see his reaction to the whole milk. Exciting!
Do you remember what type of table foods you were feeding him around 10 months? It seems like Derelle is really interested in what we are eating more than wanting his baby food all the time. So, I was looking to try some new things, but I have no idea what?
I have tried cooking for him, but he would rather eat what we're eating. There are some good recipes here:
Healthy Toddler Recipes, Recipes for Feeding Your Toddler- Toddler Menus, Toddler Foods, Toddler Lunch, Toddler Breakfast Ideas at wholesometoddlerfood.com
He really likes the spinach nuggets, under weekly recipes. I cut them up in Cheerio sized bites for him. He can bite food, but eats better if it's cut up.
We started with things he'd had in baby food: peas, carrots, green beans, squash, sweet potatoes, and fruits. He doesn't really like fruit, except for blueberries, but he will eat some freeze dried fruit (Gerber graduates). I feed him lots of stir fries, pot roast veggies, and veggies from soups (because they are cooked soft and are tasty from the sauce). We also did Cheerios, crackers (broken up before he learned to bite), and Gerber graduate snacks in the beginning. He still eats all of that.
More recently, we've been giving him chicken, turkey, and cheese cubes. I've offered him other kinds of meat, but he doesn't like it as much.
I try to get him to eat 1 Tbsp of veggies at lunch and dinner. 1 Tbsp of fruit at breakfast and snack (that doesn't usually happen). 1 Tbsp of meat or beans at lunch and dinner (if it's meat he'll eat less, if it's beans he'll eat more). Either yogurt at breakfast (it's a 4 oz container, but he refused to eat it for about a month when he was on what I call a "spoon strike") or cheese (about 1 oz) at lunch. Some grains at all 4 meals, but mostly at breakfast and lunch. He's "supposed" to eat 6 meals a day by now, but he sleeps too much for that.
My nephew is 4 weeks older than Nate and won't eat any finger food besides Cheerios and fruit. He's just not interested. My sister says he's too lazy. It takes some babies longer to get into table food.
