Does someone you know suffer from MAS

The new guy on our team does.

He has MAS like a motherfer.  Male Answer Syndrome.

You know...when a guy feels like he MUST chime in with an answer for everything - regardless of whether he is knowledgeable on the topic or not.   He's only been here a couple weeks and already he is driving everyone up a wall.

I wish a side effect of MAS was laryngitis.

  • I don't think it's gender specific.  A few people in my grad program need a good face-smacking along with a hearty "STFU"

I so wish there was a legal justification for this.

  • my father in law, bless his heart, does this.  ABOUT BABIES.

at dinner one night with my friend and her BF and gerren and both of his parents AND his aunt and uncle, my FIL and the uncle proceeded to tell me that i need to have kids and SOON because my body is meant to have kids young, now is the prime time, yadda yadda.  REALLY, MEN??? you know SO much about the frucking birthing process?  FYI, the prime age to have a child is 32, biologically speaking.  and i am only 25.  and my mom had me when she was nearly 40, and i turned out to be good enough for your son, didn't i??

i was SO livid.  i will literally never forgive him for that.

he also does it at the airport.  always has to talk to strangers about flying and the TSA.  he has flown maybe 12 times in his life...real big expert and all...

  • Sadly, I have it myself, but in my defense, I have an office full of idiots.  Feel free to tell me to STFU whenever.
  • Brew, STFU.

This was me in middle/elementary school. I would get annoyed at people for not knowing the answer and wasting time. Once they separated us into honors and AP, it got better. I was not like that in college. My school district does the second or third worst on standardized tests in NY. So there were a lot of dumb people.

    Woke up. Still queen.
  • @Laura - I dunno....ladies can be know-it-alls, but men have a way about making themselves so cocky and self assured about it.  Women can be haughty but we can't do unadulterated arrogance like a man.

@Shauni - hahaha.  I used to get so nasty when people said crap like that to me when I was in my 20s.  I used to threaten my mom I'd get my tubes tied every time they brought it up.  They eventually gave up.

@Brew - see my response to Laura.  You don't have MAS.  Plus I've never seen you be a know-it-all here.

  • I know a girl who does this.

Today she was telling me how her condo association doesn't know how to plow small parking lots and she sat in her car for an hour and smirked at them until she could get in her spot.

Really punk? And YOU know how to plow small parking lots? You know so much that instead of getting out of your car and giving some advice you sat there and wasted gas that is $3.09+ per gallon for an hour?

    Shut it, dillhole.
