I knew Jake & Taylor broke up, but according to OMG! (lol yes, super reliable news source) :
When Jake Gyllenhaal dumped Taylor Swift over the phone just before New Year's -- ending their whirlwind two-month romance -- Swift, 21, was completely blind-sided, multiple pals tell the new Us Weekly, out now.

"It was a 180-degree turn and so out of the blue," a source tells Us of 30-year-old Gyllenhaal's decision.
Explains another insider, "Jake just told her it wasn't working out...Taylor is really upset and hurt. She doesn't know what she did for him to put a stop to it. She feels really burned by him."
Oh yes, I can't wait to hear the song that is going to ensue over this break up. I'm already making up my own lyrics in my head!

Honestly, in her songs she comes across as still being 15 on an emotional level. It doesn't surprise me that a 30 year old man would find he didn't have enough in common with her. I briefly went out with a guy who was 29/30 when I was 21 and it turned out the same. He was mister I'm-on-track-to-be-a-big-law-partner and I-drink-scotch-in-bed-while-reading-National Geographic and I was barely out of college with no idea what I wanted to do with my life yet. I'm sure she'll take it as a personal slight though.
The song she wrote about John Mayer makes me majorly roll my eyes, even though I admit that I sing along to some of her other songs
, because it seems unfair to paint nefarious intent on the actions of a 33 year old dude dating a 19 year old girl. She was an adult and she knew how old he was when she chose to date him.
I totally thought the same thing when I saw they broke up. But they were a weird couple, so I'm not shocked.
I do agree somewhat with Kendra, although I think Back To December shows some maturity. She admits (at least in the song) that she messed it up with Twilight Wolfboy. I don't think I've heard the John Mayer one.

I hate the John Mayer song. I won't even listen to it. It's annoying. I mean duh, what did you think would happen. He has a reputation, did you think you would be different?
I like the back to december song, but I'm over it. They over play the heck out of it on the station I listen to.
I liked them together, but there is the age gap thing. She is an "Established" (sort of) artist, but he is a more established, more serious Actor - I wonder if it was a tom cruise/katie holmes thing (i read or heard that she always had a crush on him as a young girl), except they are some how still married.
Taylor had a crush on Jake..they dated, and she was like CAH_RA_ZAY.
