Another Book Club ?

Okay - I feel like a total tool since I suggested the book for the month and can't make it to the meeting tonight. I am completely bummed that this head cold is interferring (still) with my social engagements.

I gotta ask - did people who read the book like it?

I think it's a kick-butt funny xmas read and I was really psych'd that people opted to give it a try.

  • I'm not done with it yet.  It has taken some time to get into it, but it is getting better as I go.  Doesn't help that I have been kinda busy....

  • I had a hard time at first since this is my first foray into Discworld, but once I got into it I enjoyed it a lot. The author is really good at dialog timing and I'm a little in awe of the imagination it took to invent this world.

One of my favorite parts was when Hex was malfunctioning and they decided he needed dried frog pills... so they typed in "lotsandlotsofdrydfrogpills" -- for some reason that just made me laugh out loud.

FWIW, my husband read the summary on the back and said "that book sounds evil!"

Nice! This was my first exposure to Pratchett's work too and I think it takes a minute to get used to his style, but once you've got it - he's really funny. My favorite part is Susan and the bears/bogeymen/monsters. "Not the voice!"
