Help us figure out what to do for our one year anny
So next weekend is our one year anniversary (can't believe how time flies!) and we want to do something special. We were considering renting a cabin, but with the recent bad weather it's probably not a good idea, not to mention it gets pretty pricey once they tack on all the extra charges and fees.
I think we want to have a really nice dinner, and then possibly stay at a nice hotel, but we're open to any/all suggestions. Thanks!
Re: Help us figure out what to do for our one year anny
LOL! I would be very very surprised if that happened.
Not that we haven't talked about it, but he's the type that would want to do it when it was least expected, and I think an anniversary date wouldn't exactly be out of left field.
hmm... what about chateau elan? you could also try ice skating near piedmont park or at the st. regis (which i think won't have kids so it might be more romantic) and do a romantic dinner.
couples massage?
chocolate fondue?
a b&b? there are some in atlanta and i've stayed at a few in dahlonega.

The ice skating would sound nice if I hadn't completely busted my ass on a patch of ice yesterday, and I have no desire to repeat the experience, LOL. Knowing my luck, I would break an arm or leg and our anniversary would be ruined.
Fondue sounds great! Maybe a dinner at a nice steakhouse a la Ruth's Chris or Elevation, followed by some kind of activity and then dessert at the Melting Pot, and an evening at a hotel?
I was totally all over that last one they sent, but the $82/night price is only for the regular rooms, I wanted a room with a fireplace and hot tub, and those were $180/night.
I've yet to find a cheap romantic getaway. Sometimes you can find specials at Chateau Elan, but once you start adding on spa services, etc., it all adds up. I can recommend a good cabin rental company, but I wouldn't suggest going this time of year. Some of the roads are terrifying in the summer - I can't imagine driving on them now.
Anything you want to see at the Fox? You could do dinner & a show, followed by a night across the street at the Georgia Terrace.
Exactly what I thought when I read the title of the post! Glad I'm not alone in this thought...
LOL @ engagement.
Melissa, that was a great thought about The Fox, but the only show is Blue Man Group, and I was just remarking to BF the other day when the commercial was on "Who would want to waste their money watching guys painted to look like smurfs bang on a bunch of garbage cans?". LOL. Too bad Beauty and the Beast is this weekend.
THIS!
Dinner at Bacchanalia.

for hotels:
The Mansion on Peachtree, The Ritz or the St Regis.
Call me Kat =^..^=
I did consider this, but I want to see Savannah in nicer, warmer weather.
Do you like jazz? You could catch a show here. DH loves this place (I'm not a jazz fan, but it's a nice relaxed club that is all about the music.)

Not really a jazz fan, but thanks.
We decided to go ahead and have dinner at a nice steakhouse, followed by some kind of activity that's yet to be decided, then dessert at the melting pot. I also reserved us a nice two room suite with a king sized bed at the Embassy Suites. I'm really looking forward to it.
Thanks for all the suggestions!
