We are doing a care bear theme.... cake is all set
here is where i lack:
any cute game ideas for the 3 and under crowd
food - we do the same thing over and over .... now with the 3rd bday i'm a little bored and want to change it up. here is what we usually do: baked ziti, pulled pork, sandwiches, party pizza, spinich dip, onion dip/chips
Re: 3rd bday help!
Is it a family party or school/friend party or a mix of both?
How much room do you have? Can you do parachute games? Are you guys crafty? Make a bean bag toss with care bears painted on it or a photo op with a care bear? You may be able to find that at the party store or on-line...
Pizza, lasagna, and a salad...but I guess that is along the same lines of what you had said...Cold-cut platter for sandwiches...Panera catering is SO good if you want to go that route...
I'll keep thinking...
I'm a big fan of having parties at a place so I have no game ideas. Maybe the freeze game or freeze tag?
How about sweet and sour kielbasa, macaroni salad, tossed salad, party pizza, calzones.
he is!!! this is what he's thinking - already got the figures

For DS's bday party, we did: stuffed shells (Amanda's recipe on Pam's site - delicious!); meatballs; penne with sauce; salad; rolls; party pizza; chips; fruit salad; cheese, pepperoni & crackers. Everything went over really well!
For DD's 1st bday, I am planning to make chili & will serve w/sour cream & cheese; salad; party pizza; rolls; fruit salad; cheese, pepperoni, & crackers.... and probably some other main dish to be determined. Hmm, maybe I'd do the Salsa Verde Chicken since that was so easy.
(and I hear you, I usually do the same things again and again, but everyone seems to like the food so, why change it, right??)
And I never do any games. I just have the kids entertain themselves and play with each other.
Seems like the other ladies have you covered as far as food suggestions go. I'll give you some ideas for party games for the Toddler/Preschool crowd!
Pin the Tail on the Donkey... but, you've got a Care Bear theme... so, how about Pin the Rainbow on the Care Bear? Have a blank Care Bear that the kids have to get the rainbow (or whatever symbol is on DD's favorite Care Bear) onto the belly! If you don't feel comfortable with having them pin it, you can use tape...
Care Bear Stare Ball/Beanbag Toss -- have rings set up on the ground (or that you hold up) for the kids to toss a ball into. I'd decorate the ball/beanbag (thinking small inflatable, so no worries about it damaging anything) by wrapping it in a piece of tulle, and tying it off with a ribbon... make it look along the ideas of a comet or a skytail --
Toy Walk (kind of a variation of Musical Chairs, but nobody's out!) -- Have numbers (or, in line with the theme of this party... different Care Bear symbols) marked out on the floor. The kids walk around until the music stops. When the music stops, you pull a number (or symbol) out of a hat and the kid who is on that number/symbol wins a small prize. Play until all the kids get something. Got this idea from this website -- http://baby.lovetoknow.com/wiki/Toddler_Birthday_Party_Games
