Do you have to go to work when it snows badly?
Ehhh sometimes I do, and sometimes I get to stay home. Last storm I stayed home thank goodness, but I am not sure if I will be so lucky this time.
Re: Do you have to go to work when it snows badly?
If the city shuts down, no.
I can't remember, but the first winter I was there, facilities shut us down. We could come in if we wanted, and I did for an hour but then left.
Yahoo for snow days! Since taking a new position in October, the building I now work in does shut down on really bad days. I'm so glad, since the commute from framingham wouldn't have been good.
I hope all of you that had to travel make it safe!
Argh, this pissed me off to much today, I'm going to XP:
This is what it looks like outside of my house:
Now, I live about a mile from my office, but I HATE driving in the snow and my tires are sh!t, so I was looking for any excuse to make it a snow day, but my sister, whom I also work with, was going in and offered to drive, so I didn't really have an excuse to waste a personal day, so we trekked it in.
This is the parking lot to our office:
Empty. No one else is here. And when I called out other office 20 minutes away, I got a voice message stating that the office is closed. WHAT?! No one said anything to us about the office being closed. In fact, my boss who works in my office said to try to be in, even if it means 11am or Noon arrival...
So I called my coworker at home on her cell and bitched for about 10 minutes. And then I called the boss of the closed office and left him a voicemail asking him WTF is going on. Of course, my boss isn't even here yet, but if HE'S not here by noon, I'm going to give him a call too.
I am so pissed. I mean, I'm here. I should take advantage of it being quiet and do something and/or nothing and get paid for it, but I swear, it's getting shitty out, with the worst to come at noon... I'm so out of here by noon.

My company pretty much never closes - but I didn't go in. If I had a laptop I could have worked from home but only like 2 people (besides the managers) from my department have them.
At least you don't need to worry about daycare closing on you... -_-
