Guess what came in the mail today?! My grandfather's WWII medals
I am so excited, I hope my Dad will be as happy as I am (he didnt really show any emotion when I gave him the scrapbook, but I later found out from my mom he didnt want to show emotion and cry in front of everyone).
The only problem...Im missing one medal (from the packing list), so I have to contact them to see what happened.
I had planned to put them all in a shadowbox to give to my Dad, but since the one medal is missing should I just bring them all over or wait? He does know something is coming, as far as awards go. Im not sure how to give them to him either. Suggestions?
Re: Wahoooooooo!!!!
That is great!! I would probably wait until you get them all (unless they tell you it is going to be a while). I like the shadowbox idea and you can always leave a little space for the medal (if you know the size) or you could show him everything and then tell him that you will put it all in a shadowbox when everything comes.
That is great that it finally came.

I went ahead and showed him...it kinda sucked bc he brought up who actually has my grandpa's original purple heart and he seemed pissed about that and it opened up a wound kinda.
He did think it was cool though (again I had hoped he would have been more excited about it), they engraved most of the medals with my grandpas name which I thought was awesome!! I guess that's what took so long. They forgot to include the WWII victory medal (which all servicemen got for serving), so I hope it wont be too much trouble for them to send that.
Im definitely getting a shadowbox! I cant wit to put them all in one to see what it looks like, and I will probably add a photo of my grandfather to that as well. One thing about it all that's weird is you have to send away to get all certificates that go with these medals...you would think they would have sent them with the medals, but they dont.
