I noticed your comment about your new foster dog- since it seems like you are into natural alternatives, have you heard of Colloidal silver? It's a natural antibacterial and can be applied topically for ear infections (like with a dropper) or put a little in their water. My aunt took care of her daughter's cats for a week and one was sick, and she put it in their wet food and the cat was better at the end of the week!

Interesting! It sounds like the vet he is seeing right now has a concoction that seems to be working. We are supposed to get the recipe for this so I'll have to see if this is listed!
