yikes! non-fit pg chick!

I just came back from the midwife appt. and my weight is up to 161.  With Owen I topped out at 168 or 170, but I've got seven weeks to go and I gained 7 pounds over the last three weeks!  Some of this is of course because of the holidays, but ai-yi-yi...time to dial back on the sausage-based meals, up the salads, and drink a few less mochas.....or maybe finally really start that prenatal yoga routine that I've done twice in the last 7.5 months....

Re: yikes! non-fit pg chick!

  • Yeah... I had put on around 10lbs. at my first appt, and that was just before the holidays, so I am back in the land of salads, lean protein and lots of veggies. I don't even want to think about the damage I did during the holiday home. I just started the Long & Lean Prenatal Workout, and it is an ass kicker! There's not weights, so it's more of the pilates style training, using your body's own weight, etc. and I really like it so far, I'm actually looking forward to going home and doing the mat routine tonight. I've already warned DH that I will not be one of those women who only gain belly weight during pregnancy, and he better be ready for the ever expanding wife Embarrassed

GL with your yoga routine, which one are you doing?

  • I gained 10 pounds in the first trimester!  Indifferent  There's definitely a downside to not having morning sickness.

The doctor's scale measures me very differently than my home one, so I'm not exactly sure how far up I am now, but it's not pretty...  I started at "overweight" for my height to begin with, and I'm definitely up over what's recommended for that category...

I need to get to the gym - I get totally out of breath walking up one flight of stairs.  I'll never make it through labor at this point!

  • I gained barely anything while pregnant but have gained 12lbs since having her :( oops
  • Hey I'm right there w/ you  :o).  I feel absolutely ENORMOUS this time (I thought I was big last time, but man this is insane!).  I'm measuring ahead, and am gaining the same amount as I did w/ Jake.  I just keep reminding myself that it all came off w/ nursing and hopefully it will again!!

  • Uh, you are much taller than me and I definitely topped out at 175 with Luke :) hahaha, I think 180 may be more like it this time. Damn cottage cheese thighs this pregnancy.

I forget I was full time waitressing (up and down stairs) with Luke and now I'm soooo sedentary! Uh. Luckily unlike with Luke, it'll be warm when I have an infant! Hopefully I can walk the extra lbs off .

And BTW, you looked darn amazing when I saw you!!!

This is exactly what I was thinking!!!!

I will say I often wonder how different it will be with pregnancy #2... but I guess like the first one, everyone is different!!   I can't believe how far along you already are!!

  • @Erin & Heather -- you are both very sweet. :)

I'm worried about taking the weight off this time.  I'm glad she's being born a month earlier than Owen was -- it gives me that much more time until swimsuit season.
