How Many Jobs Have You Had?
Sorry to be a PW, but I this was a question on a poll on another board, and I feel slightly freakish about the number of jobs that I have had. BUT I have had long stretches where I worked 3 jobs at a time, and I have been working for 15 years. Pleast put my mind at ease - how many jobs have YOU had??
Lots of love and continual explosions of babydust to my BG Besties! XOXOXOXO

Re: How Many Jobs Have You Had?
In 13 years, I have had 4 jobs. 2 part-time & 2 full-time. One of the part-time jobs was a 2nd job.
In 16 years, I've had 8 jobs (but 4 of those were all within the same company to higher-up positions).

15 years, 15 jobs. I have also had several jobs at once so that list is sorta wonky.
Lifeguard and swim instructor at 2 pools highschool and college
Adapted Swim program coordinator highschool
Instructor -college
2 different work study positions - college
2 different AmeriCorps programs for a year each
Non Profit - 2 years
Assistant in the trades - 3 years
Admin - non profit 2 years
4 different retail jobs at various points
Let's see... not counting unofficial things like baby-sitting and house-sitting and cleaning my grandma's house as a kid...
In the 18 years I've been working, I've had:
-8 jobs + 1 unpaid internship prior to starting grad school
-9 Teaching Assistantships and 2 Research Assistantships since starting grad school
High School: McDonald's- 3 years and met DH there, Pizza Hut- 3 years, American Eagle- 3 months- hated retail, Retirement community- server in restaurant- 7 months.
Post High School: Current job- 8 years.
All for a total of 5 jobs.
I have been working for 15 years and I have had 8 jobs. One of them was a temp agency in which I had numerous assignments over 3-4 years.
I've had 12 or 15 jobs in the last 16 years. Several of those jobs were 2nd jobs.
For the last five years I have been a SAHM during the day and worked part-time at night.
3 admin positions at my current job (4 1/2 years)
1 admin - financial company (2 1/2 years)
1 patient care coordinator - dentist (9 months)
1 booking agent for bands (9 months)
1 exec admin - telecom company (2+ years)
1 office manager - software development company (3 years)
1 press operator - manufacturing plant (2 years?)
1 sam's club - cashier
1 target - stock
1 gasoline alley (go cart place) - cashier
1 frozen yogurt place
so, 13 jobs since i started working at age 14?
Wow, non-babysitting..
worked at the State fair in two separate employers and jobs
(2)
nannied (payroll taxes, etc so I count it cuz I had to work that time)
(1)
college grill
(1)
BK in college
(1)
Target was in HS, post-college grad, a separate job a year later at HQ)
(3)
Hotel, payroll outsourcer, corporate
(3)
SAHM but turned real job
(1)
So 12 but I think I'm probably missing at least one.
And if I hadn't been officially a SAHM for almost 6 years now, my trackrecord was a job a year
So 20-6 years as sahm=14 years, 12 jobs. Yup, sounds about right.
I've had 2 in 14 years.
1st job was in a restaurant where I started as a dishwasher/busser and then moved up to a hostess and later a server.
2nd job is my current. I started it 8 years ago as a Vet Tech and I am now the Practice Manager.
my read shelf:
Let's see....
HS - restaurant job - I bussed tables and washed dishes.
Wal-Mart (I know....) - one summer I worked in the hardware/paint department and the next summer I was a cashier.
College - Marshall Field's
Post college - Dayton's/Marshall Field's, Sonnie's, dugo - sold tons of clothes, did some buying, and managed inventory while putting out POS fires and training my ladies how to finish their sales.
Part-time second job at the MIA in the gift shop for 6.5 years.
Now I'm a FACS teacher and I coach skating, which is kind of a second job.
So I guess I'm at 9.
19. I've been working since I was 15. In college I worked up to 4 jobs at once.
I have to think about this. I started paid work at 16 and I'm 29 now. By my count I've had 9 jobs total and at least 4 were full time.
ETA: I should add that one of my full time jobs I held for over 6 years, so for a long time I wasn't much of a job hopper.
Since I started working in high school I've had 15 jobs, including 2 internships.
ETA: whoops, forgot one. Make that 16.
- Martin Luther King Jr.
In 20 years, I've had 15 jobs not including unpaid internships. Seven of the jobs have been with 3 employers where I quit and they hired me back for new positions.
Some of these overlapped and some I went in knowing they were temporary positions.
My shortest non-temp position was a year. The longest was 5 years.
Tired after a long morning of hiking and swimming.
Oh, I forgot about temp positions, and summer camp counselor. so I go from 20 to...
19 +2 +3 = I'm now at 24. Wow

I worked at Rosedale Mall, in Wick N Sticks. Started just before I turned 16, and worked there for 2.5 years. I started my current job just after turning 18 (worked both for a while), and have been here ever since. 10 years this summer. I will be here forever unless they make me leave.
