Best lunch in Jax?

DH and I are having a date lunch on Monday.  We're both off from work but daycare is open so DS will be there.

What's the best lunch you've had here?  I wanted to try iii Forks but they're only open for dinners.

Re: Best lunch in Jax?

  • French Pantry.  Without a doubt, French Pantry.  They have crazyass hours too, so a day off is the best time to go.

And a google search for "french pantry" and "tea party" garners no results.  FYI.

  • I hear that if you haven't been to Capital Grille, lunch is the time to go. Same food, better price.

But French Pantry is definitely the way to go for a non chain meal.

  • Hmmm...I was actually looking up French Pantry and DH suggested Capital Grille.

Good to know we're not off base.  Also good to know about the TP search. heh

LOL! I've never tried french pantry before.

I LOVE mojos for lunch, but it's not exactly fancy or date-ish.

  • I third French Pantry. It was AMAZING. here's my little review with photos of some of the food http://www.biteclublog.com/2010/03/restaurant-profile-french-pantry.html if you're interested.

ETA: If you want a more intimate date, FP might not be best thought because it's communal seating and pretty busy/crowded... but the food more than makes up for it.

  • The Village Bread Cafe is also good.  There's one on San Jose in Mandarin near Five Guys and one on Philips Hwy near University (in a little more industrial of an area).  Have fun!

    Yes Definitely French Pantry.  Yum!
  • French Pantry, French Pantry, French Pantry!!! Make sure to get there right at 11 when they open, though. Otherwise you'll stand in line outside for a long, long time.

  • while french pantry sounds amazing given what i've read i don't think it's going to work for what we're looking for. i have a hair appt at 10:45am and lunch would be after that.  so if that means long lines we're going to have to leave that for another day. the search continues for someplace with great food, but also relaxing and more of a date-like feel.
