Fight at Maple Shade bridal shop lands woman in jail

Courier-Post staff ? January 14, 2011

MAPLE SHADE ? A Lindenwold woman was arrested in the parking lot of a bridal shop this week after police were dispatched to the store for a dispute.

Police said they found Bianca Loren Gibson, 23, in a minivan just after 8 p.m. Tuesday punching another woman outside David's Bridal on Route 38.

A patrolman climbed into the van to stop the assault after Gibson ignored a verbal command to stop the fight, police said. Other arriving officers finally subdued Gibson and took her to the municipal complex where she was charged with disorderly conduct, obstruction of justice and resisting arrest.

After Gibson was booked, she was handcuffed and placed into the police department's prisoner van for transport to the Burlington County Work Release Center jail in Pemberton.

While on Interstate 295, police said Gibson managed to break off a piece of the plastic divider that protects the driver compartment of the van. She then began to verbally assault and spit on a detective and a patrolman that were transporting her.

New Jersey State Police were called in to help take control of Gibson.

Additional charges of criminal mischief to a police vehicle and aggravated assault on a police officer were placed against Gibson. She is being held on $27,500 bail and is scheduled for a Jan. 24 court date.

Police would not say if Gibson was under the influence of drugs or alcohol, but did say that she was not given a field sobriety test because she was not driving a vehicle during the incident.
