My baby fever was quelled tonight

A cute boy, probably 4 was with his mom and grandma and grandpa in the lobby of the restaurant tonight.

He proceeded to squeal, loudly and constantly while they were waiting for their table.  Some of it was b/c the grandfather was antagonizing him, but the mother did nothing to quell his high pitched squeal.

Yeah I think that cooled the uterus fire.  It was so annoying.

  • Xander has learned he can yell very loudly now. I am always mortified when he does it in public, but we always do something to make him stop screaming.

  • LOL! If only you were here this afternoon, your fever might've been cooled forever -- Jacob sweetly snuggled on my chest, then drenched me in vomit!

If it makes you feel better, she probably wasn't doing anything about it because it's the kind of thing that you don't want to react to, or he'll keep doing it for the reaction.

  • See, when I went out to eat tonight there was cute baby two tables down and she was cooing and talking very loudly. That made my baby fever surge!

I always used to judge those parents when their kids are screaming until I started working for this current family and taking my baby on outings. Sometimes, there is no way to stop it, or you are dealing with it in another way. There are some times where the parents are just letting their kids become brats though.

  • Ahhhh, the squeal - it's the least annoying of the sounds my kid makes.  At least she does it when she's really happy or excited.  The long, drawn out whine....that's what makes my ears bleed.  We do a lot of public squealing, but there's not much to be done about it, at least at this age!

  • It's one thing when they're young, but I think at 4 they're old enough to know volume.  At least our friends 3 year old understands indoor volume vs. outdoor.

I agree that 4 years old should know better.

  • Lordy, Campbell has got a scream on him! Fortunately he's usually so nosy, staring at everyone, that he forgets to scream like he does at home. I agree, it's a toss up between ignoring it to not feed into/encourage it and a to do anything to get it to stop. BUT he's 10 months old - not 4 - I do think a 4 year old probably understands inside voice time (not that I have much experience with 4 y.o)
