  • Well either way she can still love the books =) That's what I did, no dolls for me.
  • Agreed on the books.  I never had a doll, never wanted one.  But I did enjoy reading the books.  OK, ok, I'll admit, they were my sister's books that I snuck to read b/c by the time we got them, they weren't really age appropriate for me, but I still enjoyed them :)

  • I loved the books too. I'm sad that the company has kind of lost its focus on the historical/educational aspects and seems to be intent on making these just another doll.

I had Molly, and one of the things I loved was that her story was so similar to my grandma. My grandma was about the same age (a bit older) and also lived outside Chicago during WWII. The Molly stories opened up a lot of opportunities for us to talk and her to tell me about her experiences growing up.

  • I loved them!!! ?I want to play with my dolls whenever I go home! ?The historical girls are still my fave. ?

You should get her a Bitty Baby. ?She can play with that in like 3 years!?

Pleasant sold it to Mattel years ago.  Luckily, though, they still release books with new dolls (though the 'look like me' doll books are lame fill-in the blank books, not novels).  They also introduced a new historical doll last year.  1974, I believe.  And her friend was Asian - the first Asian-American Historical girl.

But yeah, even bitty-babies come with books.

I also read the Felicity books when I was a bit too old for them initially, but they were so good!

...I also read all of the historical books (and the mysteries!) when I was 21....

  • I <3 you, Marquis! ?I do that sort of stuff, too.
