QOTD - Monday 1/17

When you make coffee at home, what is your water to coffee grounds ratio?

If you don't drink coffee... why not?

Re: QOTD - Monday 1/17

  • I will drink coffee occasionally, but I do not drink it regularly.  It took me a long time to get myself off the caffeine wagon and I don't want to have to do it again.

  • I didn't start drinking coffee until my last semester of undergrad but now I have a cup every morning. I usually do one cup of water to one tbsp (or whatever the scoop that comes in the coffee container is) of grounds.

  • I rarely drink coffee, but when I do I usually buy it. I don't remember the last time that I made it at home.
  • I have to have my one cup of coffee in the morning. When I wake up I make a beeline to my coffeepot that I set the night before. I have a coffee scoop thing, each scoop makes 2 cups of coffee.

  • i drink iced coffee, so i make a full pot of water and fill the coffee filter up to the brim, then pour the coffee in a pitcher and refrigerate. i like it really strong.

when i do drink hot, i have a starbucks coffee scoop that is 2 tbsp./6oz. since i was a barista for 4 years, i just can't make weak coffee!

  • I only have my one cup in the morning, but I think I make it reeeeeally strong.  I fill it with water to the four and then do 1/8 cup scoop of grounds plus another half of that scoop.
  • I'm also on the Starbucks ratio program: 2 tb to a 6 oz mug. I really like to taste my coffee. Same way with chocolate--the darker, the better.
  • I have no clue how big the measuring spoon is that we use - but I divide the number of cups of water by 2, then add one.  So if I'm making it with 4 cups of water, it gets 3 scoops of coffee.  I had no clue how to make coffee and thats the way DH does it :)

  • I do a heaping tablespoon per cup of water.
  • I use a Keurig, so however many grounds are in a K-cup.  Sorry, that's not much help!

  • I have no idea how to make coffee. I will occasionally buy Starbucks or something like it but we rarely make coffee at home. I get a horrible headache and my blood pressure goes up whenever I drink coffee because of the caffiene.

  • I don't know how to make coffee either...I have no idea how DH makes his.

I drink a cup of coffee every morning but I make it with hot milk, two splenda and about a tsp of instant nescafe coffee....mmmmmmmmmm.

  • DH will occasionally brew coffee. I'm not sure what ratio he uses. The only time I drink coffee is when I'm out with my mom. We usually stop by starbucks for a frappuchino.

Same here. I worked there for 5 years and it has turned me into a coffee snob. I refuse to drink anything else than Starbucks coffee. The free coffee at work tastes like water.

  • One heaping tbsp of coffee to every 2 cups of water.  Sometimes I'll throw in one extra scoop.

  • I don't like to have caffeine too often, and it makes me more annoying than usual.

I have no idea how to use a coffee pot.
