Suggestions for curing cramps?
Hi ladies,
I need some help, I've been up since 3 am with killer cramps! With my knee surgery I am very limited to what I can take because I am on blood thinners. So no nsaids, ibprofen, tylenol. I am taking vicoden but it's not working.... Normally they are not this bad! I am on birthcontrol and I think because of the surgery and all the pain meds and blood thinners (I have a shot that goes into my stomach nightly) that I'm all messed up! Any suggestions besides a heating pad? (it's just making me sweat!!)
Thank you for your help!

Re: Suggestions for curing cramps?
Can you take Midol? I've never used it, but have had roommates who are huge users...otherwise, an active part of Midol is caffiene..so can you drink some caffienated tea or coffee? pop?
(Side note: my roommate once was having problems sleeping and we realized that the amount of Midols she had taken that day was equal to the caffiene in something crazy like 10 Mountain Dews!)

I wish I could help more. I use a all natural heating pad (one that is filled with the rice and lavendar that you put in the microwave. I find that it does not make me sweat like electric heating pads do. The other option may be some of those thermapads that they sell in drugstore. It is a disposible heating pad. They make it for different parts of the body. It sticks on like a band-aid but is meant to be able to wear out and everything. May want to try that.
I'm usually super picky about when I take medicine, even like Advil (I have to be pretty non-functioning to get to that point).
So for cramps, before I reach for the medicine cabinet, I grab a heating pad and just curl up around it. In a pinch, a cheap plastic water bottle filled with scalding tap water also does the trick (and just go all fetal position with the bottle tucked in against your hip bone).
Hope this helps!!!
