Recommendations for Savannah?
Hello Lovely Atlanta Ladies,
My girlfriends and I have decided to do a girls weekend in Savannah this spring (weekend of April 16.) None of us have been so if you have, I'd love to hear your recommendations. Where to eat, where to shop, any must-do or see activities would be great.
TIA!!
Re: Recommendations for Savannah?
I got married there 4 years ago and I used this site for info:
http://savannahvisit.com/
I've only stayed at a few hotels. The Mansion on Forsyth is a very nice boutique hotel but it can be pricey. Any of the hotels on Bay St are totally fine. The Hyatt, the Doubletree, the Hampton Inn, & Hilton Garden Inn. But if you want the Savannah feel, I'd do a B&B. We have never stayed in one yet because DHs family lives in town, so there's never been a need.
Do a ghost tour. Hit up River St at night and bar hop. Get a slice of pizza at Vinnie Van Go Go's.
Visit Tybee Island (it should be warm by April!) and hit up the City Market for some shopping.
HTH!
Call me Kat =^..^=
for hotels, we usually do the avia or the hyatt (priceline is your friend!).
restaurants: i second getting a slice at vinnie van go go's, the pink house, huey's for beignets, the shrimp factory, the chart house
things to do: pub crawl, ghost tour, bonaventure cemetary
Adventures of A Girl and Her Apron
I also recommend the Hyatt and the Doubletree as far as hotels go.
For food, I third Vinny Van Gogo's, also a lot of the places on Riverstreet are good, but some are majorly overpriced. Huey's is good, so is Boreshead, and also Berney's.
Things to do: Go to the candy stores on Riverstreet!!!
We usually stay at the Hyatt. They also have a neat bar with fun cocktails and apps called "Vu" where you have a nice view of River Street. I would not recommend staying at the Riverstreet Inn - the service there is terrible.
I like to eat at Vic's on the River - upscale southern cuisine - it's delicious. And they have a nice piano bar, too. If you want to do something a little bit off the beaten path, try out the Crystal Beer Parlour. It's a 40's style bar/restaurant with live jazz on Friday nights. Jazz'd is also a good place for tapas and live music.
There is a new hotel on River Street that I've heard rave reviews about - The Bohemian. They are also supposed to have an excellent restaurant and maybe a roof-top bar?
The main "activity" to do in Savannah is to stroll around, window shop, and enjoy the beautiful squares and historic houses and gardens. My friend actually wrote a guide book for planning a girl's weekend in Savannah, which you can check out here.
