Weekend...

I'm bored (not feeling like working) so... how was the weekend for everybody? Do anything fun? Got anything fun coming up in the next few weeks to be excited about? Tell us...

Re: Weekend...

  • To answer my own question...

My weekend was boring, which I consider a good thing. Dinner with friends on Friday night, stayed home watching movies on Saturday and a few errands on Sunday. Not exciting at all, but nice.

Nothing fun coming up. Hmm Might have to do something about that. Wink

  • I've had this weird cough, stuffy nose thing for 2 weeks now.  Last weekend turned into a full blown cold and now I'm dealing with the residual effects of all that.  Other than the 2 days last weekend I feel mostly fine but not quite 100%.  It's sooooo annoying.  DH and I both got barely any sleep last night because I couldn't stop coughing no matter what I did.  I am ready to feel all the way better.  I've been spending lots of time on the couch watching TV and it's getting old.  :-(  I feel so lazy and useless.  The last 2 weeks have really made me take a nose dive into the winter blahs.  I need to get off my butt and go to the gym because that usually makes me feel more like a human.

  • Our weekend was mostly productive and a bit of fun too.  We spent the majority of our time packing to move in to our first house at the end of the week.  Our fun thing coming up is the moving - the moving isn't so fun, but the fact that we're buying our first house is fun!  We also went tubbing/sledding this weekend - which was cold, but fun!

  • We had a home visit from the MN Boxer Rescue on Saturday  - I had posted about a pitbull girl we were going to adopt but the insurance issue did not work out.  It was going to cost us $170-200 a month more in insurance to have a plan that covered any/all breeds, and add that cost to the extra costs of a second dog, and it wasn't a good fit for us.  :(  We are looking at a few boys with the boxer rescue though, and we are now fully approved, so we are just waiting for the right guy to bring home!  :)

Sunday we ran errands and then visited my cousin Jenny at HCMC for a few hours.  She is in the hospital with 3rd and 4th degree burns on her legs/thighs/stomach.  Jenny has cerebral palsy and although she uses her walker for some things, when she cooks she has to use her wheelchair... and she dropped the pot with water and pasta in her lap, burning herself incredibly bad.  She needed skin grafts, which are taking, but she'll be in the hospital for about 2 weeks total.  She has a fantastic attitude, which is so inspiring, but I feel so badly for her.  We brought her food because all she wanted was something home cooked - hospital food is nasty.  We also had dinner with Joe's parents and they came over to help us with a few house things.

Next few weeks.. nothing too exciting.  My birthday is in February though, and we are doing a surf & turf cooking class for Valentines Day so that'll be fun!

  • My weekend had some ups and downs:

Ups: Fri night H and I went to the Josh Thompson concert @ the Cabooze which was a lot of fun.  I ran into some old friends and it was nice to catch up.  Sat night we went to dinner/drinks for a coworkers birthday, met some new people, and sang karaoke which was fun too.

Downs: My dad is still in the hospital recovery from his brain biopsy last week.  He had a seizure on Fri morning and had trouble breathing so they put him on a ventilator Fri night.  We visited him Sat morning and last night and he is doing much better now.  They took him off the ventilator Sun morning, but his throat was very sore so he couldn't talk much.  He is much more alert now and he even squeezed my hand very hard last night when I said goodbye.  My aunt also flew in from Seattle on Sat so it's nice to have the extra support for my mom who is at the hospital almost all the time.

    This is fantastic. Congrats!

I'm still on weekend and just got back from the gym. Our plans for tonight are a nice big fire and cuddling on the couch. Our weekend was pretty busy, we got a lot of organizing done, watched a LOT of House season 6 (we blew up an air matress and laid in the basement watching tv all friday night, it was awesome) Saturday we went to my mom's where my mom, aunt and I worked our butts off getting a website built and online registration set up for the memorial run for my dad, Sunday was a lot of cleaning and shoveling and shopping. Today we've chilled and are about to light that fire I mentioned.

Nothing too exciting coming up, but we are going to Ben Folds and Street Corner Symphony on Sunday night at First Ave. Our first date was at First Ave to a Ben Folds concert years ago.

  • We went to a class on Friday and Saturday about adopting from the foster system.  It was a ton of overwhelming information but really good.  I was in bed by 9:00 both nights because I was so mentally drained.  Yesterday we slept late, went grocery shopping and caught up on things around the house.

Street Corner Symphony as in the guys that were just on the Sing Off??  I love Ben Folds.  He is quirky and adorable.  :-)  I made sure that The Luckiest was played at our reception.  When it started DH and I were across the room talking to different people and we both turned and made a beeline across the dance floor so we could dance to it.  :-)

    Have fun!

  • My weekend usually consists of Friday and Saturday...Friday we a day just for me, I watched two moves, took a long bath, and a nap and also made an apple crisp.  Saturday DH took me ice fishing against my will, but he has been begging me for a long time to go with.  As we were packing it up to come home, DH went to close the tailgate on his ford explorer and the glass shattered!  We had to drive home with no window on the back.  They were supposed to come and fix it today, but I guess they didn't show up, I am so glad we have full glass coverage!  I had to work on Sunday and it was busy, I also did not have today off either.

Yeah, they're opening for Ben Folds on his tour now. Something my H called right away. And I have to laugh because "The Luckiest" is my least.favorite.ben.folds.song. :) I turn it off.

Hah.  Nice.  I haven't heard it in awhile actually.  The only time I do it on my iPod and it never comes up on my shuffle.  :-)

That is pretty cool they got that gig!  I'm guessing they met on the Sing Off?

We'll be at that show as well. The Luckiest is 'our song', it was our first dance at our wedding.

    I'm excited for the show!

  • Our first dance song was Ben's cover of Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head.

See you there Izzy! Though I wouldn't know it if I did...

  • Pretty good here, got a LOT accomplished around the house.  Then I made some more crayon rollups (ok, so it was 10 more)  and just chilled out.

It's not in the next few weeks, but on February 18th we leave for Montana for 10 days.  We stay at my in-laws just south of Big Sky at West Yellowstone.  We stay busy!  But it's soooo much fun!!

  • My weekend was mostly boring.  The only time I left the house was Sunday afternoon to go see my friend's 6 week old daughter for the first time.  She's such a little peanut!

I'm really looking forward to this next weekend.  DS is going to stay at his aunt & uncle's house for the weekend & we're headed north to a friend's cabin.  It will be a nice break.  We've both been a little bit stressed lately so I'm hoping this weekend will be fun & relaxing for both of us.
