Sinkhole Coverage - Homeowners insurance
Anyone have any thoughts on sinkhole coverage? I'm in the process of getting quotes for home insurance, and the first one came back today. In it, the underwriter mentioned that it includes catastrophic ground cover collagpes, but doesn't cover sinkholes - that would be an additional premium.
I know virtually nothing about sinkholes (other than a billboard I see off of I4), guess I need to start googling. Anyone have any experience with this type of coverage, and know if it's worth it?

Re: Sinkhole Coverage - Homeowners insurance
Hm, I wonder if we have sinkhole coverage. Good question.
I know nothing about it. Sorry.
There is a rep that comes into my office and she told me she has been fighting with her homeowners insurance for 2 years to fix a sinkhole that is under their house. She said they keep sending different people out to inspect the sinkhole and arguing about who has to pay to fix it. She said it has been a huge disaster. She said there is obvious damage to her house, and about 80% of her neighborhood has sinkhole damage.. insane!
I would think that if it prevents clusters like the one this girl is going through it might be worth it, but I don't know if she already had coverage or what that whole deal is.
There are sinkhole billboards all over Spring Hill, apparently they are quite the problem around here. =/
My H works for a homeowners insurance company - if you want to email me questions I will forward them on to him! I'm sure he could give better insight than me:)
