My BIL/SIL had to put their 12.5 yr old english lab down tonight. His age was just wearing on him, he couldn't even get up on his own to go outside.
The whole family (H, his parents, SIL's parents, her sister/h) are all there right now. I'm not bc I am sick. I feel awful.
This dog was so close to them, to all of us really, probably me the least I would guess? But definitely a dog that was part of the family. So H told him (he saw him earlier) that Tessie would be up there waiting for him to play with.
I just sent these (or similarly arranged) flowers to be delivered tomorrow to BIL/SIL. I just feel bad I am not there.

Re: I feel bad :(
Ugh, poor puppy. And poor family... I was raised pets = family too, so I get it. I'm really sorry.
And that flower arrangement is gorgeous, I'm sure they'll really appreciate it.

How terrible, and yes pets are family and sometimes it's actually worse to lose a pet then an actual member of the family.
The flowers are beautiful.

I'm sure they understand why you aren't there. We all miss important things sometimes. I think it's harder on the one who's missing, though. I'm thinking of when I missed my grandfather's funeral because I was in the freaking Philippines. I know my family would have liked for me to be there, but grieving so far removed from all of them was very hard on me. They had each other. I didn't have anyone.
It must have been comforting to them to hear that Tessie would be waiting for him.
