Did you get thank you's out yet?
Ok so I am finally done and they are being mailed this week!! I feel like such a SLACKER because I usually do this stuff immediately but I had to wait for my BIL/SIL to mail theirs first (they got married in May)
I promised her I would give her a little more time so she can get them out before I do (I guess I was feeling a little bit of the Christmas spirit when I promised that! LOL)
Re: Did you get thank you's out yet?
oh, woah. MAY?! and they don't have the TY's out yet??? Why bother at this point.
We had our TY's out in two weeks. I know etiquette says you have 6 months, but I think it's really tacky to go more than a month or two. Maybe two months since it was the holidays and everything, but May??

I know right! They just mailed them on Friday so I can send mine now. I gave myself a 2 month limit - I didn't even get the actual cards til about 6 weeks after the wedding.
They weren't even going to do them, H's brother was moaning about them and that he wasn't going to - that's so rude IMO. You can cash our check in 1 day but you can't take the time to write thank you on a card? Luckily they finally did them
Yeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaah...
I think I wrote one...
Ooops...
Big, big like the moon...
Say what? That is beyond rude! I didn't even want to cash the checks we had received until I was close to finishing the cards. I told H that we got married in 2010, the thank you cards go out in the same year. We put them in the mail on Dec 31st. I made my deadline.
A simple, personalized thank you is the least a couple can do for their guests who had traveled and given up their time to celebrate their day with them...
Yup!! I got mine out by Dec..we still have some cards trickling in from other people, so I get those written as soon as I can.
My mom used to say you "can't use it, play with it, spend it, eat it, or enjoy it" until a TY was out, so I adhere to this pretty strictly
We had ours out within 2 weeks as well.
My cousin and his wife got married in June. Months went by and my parents, my brother and his GF, nor us got a thank you card for the check we'd collectively sent. Finally around Thanksgiving they sent out a Thanksgiving-themed photo card with pics from their wedding plus a newsletter they'd typed up sharing what they'd been up to since June (adopting a dog, starting new jobs, moving to an apt., etc.). On the back of the newsletter was a little one-liner scribbled in ink: "Thank you for your gift and for sharing our day with us." To make it worse, they only sent this little gem to my parents, not to my brother nor I, even though we'd also chipped in money.
My photographer was providing me with TY cards with our picture on them as part of my package. There was a miscommunication between me and the photographer, and thus, I ordered the TY cards a little late. I didn't receive them until first week of January.
I mailed them all out January 8th -- not too terrible, 6 weeks after the wedding. But I was starting to feel guilty and kept apologizing to people on FB about the delay. I almost cancelled the order to go buy some, but mom kept saying that it'd be ok.
I can't imagine waiting 6 months! My mom would have killed me.
I think we had ours out in about 6 weeks... and there were just a couple that took that long. Most went out within a month of the wedding... I made DH help, but what worked best for us what for him to address the envelopes and I'd write the cards.
