... I almost typed Brangela up there. Weird.
I noticed your comment on my blog about Lightroom - I didn't know you used it! I'm just getting started, do you have any advice/tips or any tutorials you've used? I really want to get to know all of the ins and outs, but the internet here sucks and I'm having a hard time finding online tutorials that aren't videos, which I can't load.
Re: ::Auguri::
Ha, I guess I never should have changed my SN, Brangela had way more character. You can call me that if you want to.
I just really started using Lightroom and I'm not that great at it, but I absolutely love it. I just got the Scott Kelby Lightroom 3 book which is REALLY good. His writing style is very easy to follow and he has little tutorials which show you exactly how to do things and different ways to achieve the same outcome. He also gives tips on how to do things like batch processing and other really useful stuff. I was using Photoshop CS4 and CS5 before and it was just too confusing. I find that LR is so much easier for post processing that doesn't require cloning or other more advanced editing. But, I guess LR can do some pretty neat things with the adjustment brush and other tools...just haven't gotten that far in the book.
I'll look around for more tutorials (non-video) and articles that I have used, I know they are out there. I also belong to a couple photography forums which are super helpful for critiques and other people linking their blogs on photography and editing tips or articles.
Can you get mail there? Amazon carries some great books and I can also ship to you if it would be easier from over here. The Scott Kelby book on Lightroom is one that is always recommended and I read a really good book on travel photography called Within the Frame. The author discusses all aspects of travel photography in a way that is really interesting and not the typical postcard photos. I really liked it a lot, and he has another book about Lightroom as well.
I also have to add that I am loving your photos. Your edits are clean and subtle and don't take away from the subject of the photo. You seriously have an eye for photography and composition. Your photos are really amazing and they don't just look like "nice photos", you take it to the next level.
Enough gushing and stroking your ego, I'll look for some articles and tutorials and let you know what I find.
Here is a link to a blog post that gives some great editing tips for LR. If you click on her Photography tab there are additional photography and LR tips and she even goes into her workflow. I also like the fact that most of her photos are macros and landscapes which is more what I like to shoot, versus focusing on fixing skin tones.
Also check out Digital-Photography-School.com and ilovephotography.com, DPS has some really good articles on LR editing and ILP has some tutorials and forums that might be helpful. I haven't done much on ILP but I believe it is free and some good info. I'll also keep looking at some of the blogs I follow to see if there are any other articles or tutorials that might be helpful.
Awe.some. You rock thanks so much - I'll check out that blog in the morning. The mail system here sucks for residential addresses, but once I have a job I can use a business address and probably order stuff from Amazon. If so I'll get that book because this is becoming a serious obsession for me!
Thanks so much for your help I really appreciate it. Also, I was checking out your blog and love the Rothenburg ob der Tauber pics - we went there a few years ago and I loved it but it was summer and now I wish I was there for the Christmas season! It looks so festive.
Please. Gush all you want. ;-)
Now jumping domestically.
Well that was a crazy couple of years.
