Hello everyone. I know some of you have the day off today. How are your long weekends going? I'm not off.... but since everyone else seems to be, the office has been mostly quiet. Plus, the weather is terrible. It was snowing pretty hard early this morning, then sleet, now rain mix. It's supposed to freeze later. Yuck. Hope the rest of you are warm and dry and staying in!

Re: Everyone's Weekend?
I actually feel like I got a lot accomplished this weekend! Saturday I went out to work with Velvet, puppy-sat for my mom, went grocery shopping, got a sympathy card, made tuna casserole, and made healthy smoothies with DH for dessert
Sunday I made a quiche type thing for brunch, vacuumed the whole apartment including under the couch cushions, borrowed the truck from my dad to take DH's bed back to his parents- Now it's no longer blocking the heat vent in our bedroom, yay!!!! Cleaned the kitchen, bedroom and computer/spare/packed closets room up and moved the furniture. All for my favorite part - - We picked up some pvc pipe and fittings from Lowes. I got some cemented together. It's going to be the beginning of turning our "spare room" (ahahahah) into a studio! Eeeee! I am going to make some simple back drops formed around the pvc for portrait photography. I am so excited! I feel like this step is moving in the right direction
I'm working today, so it was a normal weekend.
Saturday was a ton of fun. My friend and I went and picked out a color for her wedding. She picked David's Bridal Jade. Then I went and bought her an organizer/planner at borders because she was having a panic attack over everything. I told her to take it one thing at a time. Then we went to mohegan sun, we were going to go to margaritaville but it was a 2 1/2 hour wait. so went home ordered pizza and played the wii till 1 am.
Sunday was very slow moving for me (little handover) we went grocery shopping at 2. hung out all day.
This morning i cleaned the house, took a few naps. I'm just exhausted. DH has the day off. We did the laundry and i'm leaving in a half hour.
my read shelf:
This weekend was fabulous for us. I haven't been nesting much because H left for California for an almost 4-week business trip on January 6th, and I've been pretty much consumed with puppy care, work, and sleep ever since.
But on Thursday, just as I was really starting to miss him and realize we were barely a quarter of the way through, he called to say they were sending him home for the week! And that puppy and I needed to pick him up at the airport that night at 11 PM! Best surprise ever
So my weekend started Thursday morning after getting off work. I got a haircut... a wifey 'do and I totally hate it. I wish I would have sat on the idea longer, I always *think* I'm ready to cut and then when I actually do it I get so upset. Learning from my mistakes this time!!! Oh well, looks like I'll be taking my Biotin vitamins! At least DH likes it. It's not super short (everyone keeps on commenting saying "it's still long!") but it just feels so short.
Anyways, Friday we were uber lazy and pretty much layed around together and just enjoyed each other's lazy company all day... and Saturday we did more of the same but I had to watch the kids I used to nanny for during the game. I had to work last night (boo... but at least I got holiday pay from 12 A this morning on...) and then today we relaxed together and we're doing dinner at his parents' (ugh) tonight. Hopefully squeezing in gym and grocery store together at some point. We finds out when he goes back to Cali once he goes in to work tomorrow, it will either be Wednesday or Thursday. Not looking forward to that at all
esp because I have to work Tuesday and Wednesday nights, so I won't be able to see him off.
I had a very productive day today! We're off from school, but I ran around getting all of the muslin and fabric we need for building sets next weekend, and I also converted all of the coins and singles we got from our fundraiser at the bank, so it's easier to deposit.
RIP Dr. Irving Fishman - 10/1/19-7/25/10 - thank you for holding on for me.
You made my wedding day complete.
Awe! That is a great surprise! That's nice that he got to come home for a while. I kind of did the same thing with my hair... It's long by other people's standards, but I am starting to miss my really long locks. DH likes it, though. p.s. Love your siggy pic! Cute!!
Sipmay- I'm jealous! What a great present. Your DH did good!
Also, all you ladies with the 3 day weekends are lucky. I have to try to drive home now, after just hearing on the radio that the roads are getting worse by the hour! Wish me luck.
Mine was long.
And sucky.
Huge fight with my mom which led me to getting H off work three hours early to look for an apartment, even though we're here to save money.
It was a mess.
Things are calmer but I've been really upset. I'm looking for a third job this week because we still don't make enough money to afford rent in a crappy cheap apartment.
That is sucky
It sounds like you've been kind of stressed about your whole living situation- I definitely don't blame you for that, I think anyone would be.
I am guessing that since you are in Cali, the cost of living is higher than IL, where I am. When DH and I were apartment shopping, we looked at a place that had an income cap on it. You had to make over $14,000 per year but not over $48,000 per year (something like that). So if you make more than the cap they won't consider you. I think it keeps the rent at a lower price compared with apartments not on that program. Honestly, it was one of the nicest apartment complexes I've ever seen. Maybe you could see if there are any apartments like that around your area? What about finding an introductory deal? Sometimes apartments offer the first month half off. Have you heard any of those? Just a suggestion, since I don't really know anything about CA.
