I need help!
Trying to plan a baby shower - yet, I have never even attended one!
Since nobody has a house - I have been looking into banquet halls.
I guess I need help with a Theme? Games?
Anything you thought was really neat at the last baby shower you attended?
Re: Baby Shower Ideas
Boy or girl? Does the mom have a nursery theme in mind? The easiest starting off point is to use the nursery theme and work off of that. Here's the birds and branches shower I threw for my bff:

Yeah, thats not really an option right now.
They have their anatomy scan on 1/25 - but are requesting to have the sex written down and placed in an envelope. (Not sure when they are planning on opening it).
No Nursery. She lives at home w/ her Mom for the time being, her and her FI are hoping to buy a house early next year.

I've thrown and/or attended quite a few baby showers. We did a onesie theme for one and decorated by hanging clotheslines and pinning outfits for the baby on them for the mom to take home. We did a books for baby theme and everyone brought (in addition to a gift) a story or picture book for the baby. The hostess of that one actually toll painted some shelves for the nursery, which was cute.
When you don't know the gender or the nursery design, I always err on the side of color themes. Rather than the traditional yellow and/or green, you could do something really fun, like shades of orange.
To really get into theme/menu/etc., it's kind of important to know the venue, time of day, and guest list. Is it co-ed? Young? Family? Brunch? Tea? That can help dictate the rest of the party.
Thanks for the ideas!
I am currently working with her mom, trying to figure out a location.

As for games... at my showers we played the following (not all at the same shower).
Identify baby food -- there were 8 jars of baby food with the labels removed. We had to guess which kind each was just by looking at it, no smelling/tasting, etc. (I much prefer this to the candy bar diaper game which makes me want to gag.)
Present Bingo -- every guest had a bingo card with common baby shower gifts, as I opened presents they marked off the spaces of what I opened, its a good way to entertain guests during the gift opening.
Nursery Rhyme Fill in the Blank -- either finish the rhyme or fill in the blanks on popular nursery rhymes (a lot harder than you think if you havent been around little kids in a long time.)

I was Team Green and my shower "theme/colors" was planned around my invites:

Guests also brought a book to help start baby's book collection. Most people wrote a message to the baby inside the book cover too, so whenever we read a book, we see who it is from and what they wrote to baby. It is really sweet.
As for games, I'm not a big game person, so we set a timer as I was opening my gifts and when it went off, the person whose gift I was opening at that time won a prize.
mb, love that timer idea. I'm stealing this for the next baby shower I plan!
One of my standby games is the characteristics game, aka How Well Do You Know the Mommy to Be. Print out available here:
