I am almost calmed down

I had a douchecanoe coworker from another department call me and tell me to stop talking sh!t because it gets back to people.

I won't go into the details b/c they don't really matter but basically I told his coworker yesterday that I was glad she was getting an early start on an event this year because last year a lot of things got to us last minute and made it disorganized. She agreed with me, then turned around and told him I said that and acted like I was badmouthing him.

He told me everyone who works here knows he is thorough and professional. I gave him examples of what happened last year and he agreed with me, but then said again I should watch what I say. I again told him I'm sorry he misunderstood the conversation but my frustrations were valid. He said he'd have his supervisor call me. (My office mate said I handled the conversation extremely calmly and professionally, but now I wish I'd just told him I'm sorry he felt that way, but the conversation was over.)

I told my boss (the CEO) about the convo b/c I had to vent to someone I could trust not to gossip. He laughed about the coworker saying he was professional, and said his main concern was the female coworker who told him I was talking sh!t.

I am refraining from putting a flaming pile of dog sh!t on his porch.

Re: I am almost calmed down

  • What a jackas$. I hate big tough confrontational people to spin things out of context and then shove it in your face.

  • oh geez. Why can't people grow the frick up??

This is my biggest concern for the new job, I've never worked in a large company before and really have no experience in handling a larger working environment.  And I really have no interest in this kind of drama, so I'm hoping to avoid it at all costs.

  • I'm with your CEO, I think the poo might belong on HER porch. And I'm glad your boss recognizes the real issue.
  • It's good that your boss is on your side for this whole thing.  Douchecanoe sounds like a piece of work.  Can you sneak into his office and mess with his computer?

(and bonus points for using "douchecanoe" before 10am -- for me at least)

Worst part about this guy- he doesn't even hardly know how to use a computer (he's not old either, he's only 40). That's the only reason we help him with this event at all. He's the exercise physiologist and it's their annual race. I stepped in last year to make sure sponsors to the race were receiving proper tax deduction information and to make sure our external communications were consistent (i.e., on letterhead, with the logo, etc.). I was supposed to process all sponsorship donations and instead, he "kept track" by using a pen and paper and not telling me who sent them in to him until he asked if I could send them all race shirts as a thank you. No! They need a fvcking tax letter! You idiot!

This year his coworker sent me an email yesterday saying they wanted solicitation letters sent out by the end of the week. I had her proof them so I could start working on the mailing and part of the convo today was she is not allowed to proof them- ummmm I'm halfway done with them, you jerk.

So I'm done with them and probably won't help them because seriously this has no benefit whatsoever to the foundation since they won't let us process the donations.

  • Totally sounds like my old job. Oh my gosh. People are so freaking stupid - how old are we, 12?

You handled it much better than I would've...and I'm glad your boss sees what's really up. That just sounds so ridiculous and frustrating. You need a bottle of something really strong. You deserve it.

  • So lame. Why do people suck???

I'm glad your CEO is smart and seemingly Pro-you and pro-intelligience.

Hey what are those two employees emails...I mean, you know a few people could send anonymous emails...

    :o

and scroll to the bottom of the page.

Normally I would be careful about what I spread on the internet, but as previously mentioned, he has no computer skills. I'm covered.
