Re: PG/Mom Check-In

  • Jace is 4 months old! He got his shots this morning. So far so good! We will be starting bananas tomorrow. I'm excited to start fruits and veggies!

  • I had my work shower on Friday and they got me the travel system! I was totally not expecting something like that! I love it! We were practicing with a stuffed animal in the carseat, lol.

I am ginormous! The doc said he thinks my baby will be big and started preparing me for the possible necessity of a c-section. I am terrified, but I am going to put my foot down about laboring first. I won't go right to a scheduled c-section! My next appt is next Wednesday (I'll be 35 weeks) and he said around 38 weeks I'll have another u/s. Wish me luck!

  • 8 weeks to go and I am starting to stress a little. There is still so much that we have to do to get the nursery ready, including my stupid idea to refinish an antique dresser for her. Its completely sanded down but I don't have the energy to paint it.

Last night I scored a changing table on craigslist for $25! It was bought from JCPenny, which is where our crib is from and it's the same exact antique white color. I refused to pay $200+ for a changing table, and had planned to use the dresser... but this worked out perfectly.

My OB scheduled me to come back in 3 weeks at my appt last week. He said after that I will have a couple of 2wk appts and then every week. That's when it really hit me how close we are. I am excited, I can't wait to meet my little bean.

H has been so cute saying talking to our dog Chili (who we call Chili Bean) that "momma has a bean in her belly". It makes me laugh, when we bred Chili we called her unborn puppies "beans in the belly".

Good for you! I can't imagine why anyone who is capable of having natural labor would want a c-section. I know for many people (especially those with multiples) where due to the high-risk of the pregnancy already a C-section is their only option. I personally have a problem with OBs who are knife happy and would rather do a C-section than to exhaust all other options first.

  • The good news - I'm still pregnant!!!  I'm doing everything I can to stay that way too!  My shower this weekend, and it was really nice, but I was EXHAUSTED.  H had surprised me and flown in all of my aunts from all over the country for it.  We stayed up hanging out until 3am Saturday morning, and then I slept like crap.  Kennedy made out and got lots of great stuff!

I'm still having some contractions, but trying to take it easy and stay off my feet as much as I can for the next 2 weeks.

    Ditto!!

That's completely crazy!  Why does the doc think the baby will be so big anyway?  From what I've always heard there's not a great way of estimating baby's size accurately at this point anyway.  I definitely wouldn't jump right to a c-section.  They estimated my friend's baby was 9 1/2 pounds and she scheduled a c-section.  He was 7lbs 4oz!!!!  Besides, plenty of women deliver big babies.

This happened to my B & SIL over Christmas. They said my nephew was weighing 9lbs and he was only 7lbs, 8oz

My cousin had a 9.5 lb baby last week, delivered vaginally, after less than 4 hours of labor and hardly any pushing.

  • My mom and MIL both had 10+ lb babies with no drugs (my mom's labors were really short with all 4 of us, too). My doctor told me his concern is shoulder dystocia, which (although it's rare) can cause asphyxiation or death in the newborn. The closer I get to delivery, the more terrified I am. As I watch my belly grow, I think "How the f%#$ is she supposed to come out?" ha ha ha!

  • I had a weekly appointment today and was given a lot of good news!! The babies are estimated at 5lbs, 8oz and 6 lbs, 5 oz. My doctor thinks I should deliver vaginally and I have an induction scheduled for Wednesday :) I do want to go into labor though, but it is nice to know a plan has been set. I may need to go in Tuesday night if my cervix hasn't dilated by then, but the labor drugs would not start until Wednesday morning. I have an appointment scheduled for next Tuesday morning to get an ultrasound and have my cervix checked, unless I am too busy playing with babies!

    Exciting!!!!!

  • I had my Gestational Diabetes Education Class yesterday. It was very informative. I started testing today, so far so good, my numbers are good, so hopefully they stay this way so I do not have to take insulin.

I had a growth ultrasound on Friday, my baby Juicy is already @ 5lbs 4oz, I hope that number is off and she really isnt growing that fast!

Woo hoo! Can't wait to see pics! I'm glad you've been able too cook those babies for so long, and that your doctor is going to let you deliver vaginally! I had no idea people delivered twins vaginally anymore until MrsMommyLo said she did.

YAY!!!  How exciting!!!  Hopefully you don't have to worry about being induced, but how cool to have a date where you know you'll meet your babies!
