Who has an e-reader?

I want to read more this year & I'm thinking an e-reader would be the perfect way to do so.  It looks like Kindle gets the best reviews with Nook following close behind.  I don't want to spend as much as an iPad or I'd be going that route.

What do you have & why do you like/dislike it?

Re: Who has an e-reader?

  • i have a kindle and i love it. i like that the screen looks similar to the page of a book. i have bad eyes and the backlighting and color nook is actually harder to read. i use it a lot less now that i'm not commuting 2 hours/day but i still read before bed.

  • We got DD a kindle for Christmas.  I have been borrowing it to read a book recently, and I LOVE it.  I didn't want one until I used hers.  The screen is very easy on the eyes.  I love not having to turn pages, and not having to turn down my page to remember my spot.  I totally want one for my birthday later this year... and also plan to get one for my mom for her birthday / mother's day gift.

Keep in mind I have never used any of the other e-readers out there, so I have nothing to compare to.  But the kindle gets a thumbs up from me!

  • I have the Nook, and love it.

I don't have the color one.. just the plain 'ole black and white 3G w/ wifi.  I love the Nook mainly b/c I can take epub or pdf books out from the library.  I get to read them for 21 days, and the it automatically goes back to the library.  The best part.. its FREE!  I don't think you can do this with the Kindle? Maybe?

I really don't have any complaints... I'd buy another.

  • I have a Kindle and love it...Although the books are less expensive, I spend more because I can buy with just a click of a button.

  • I'm a Kindle owner and LOVE it! And there are thousands and thousands of free titles from different sources for Kindle, Amazon's site has all the info.

A friend just got the Nook and loves it but her battery doesn't last as long as the Kindle (even with wireless off).

I think either Kindle or Nook and you can't go wrong ;-)

  • I adore my Kindle!  Easy to read, easy to buy books, tote-able.  Also surprisingly durable - I have the first version and I've had it, with original parts (including battery) for over 3 years.

  • I have the sony e-reader.... I can't say enough good things about them in general. The reason why I chose sony over the 'other' kind is that they use open format books, so I share with anyone else with an ereader and the adobe open source format.
