Newbie-Intro

Hello Ladies,

I usually lurk around the military nest board since my husband is a 2nd LT in the USMC but I just found you all and wanted to introduce myself.

I am 22, I have a bachelors degree in Mathematics Education 5- adult and am currently subbing in my county and working for the Department of Highways.  I volutneer with a great non profit organization called The Sanford Center that has turned my old elementary school building into a community center for people of all ages.  I am also in my first semester of masters classes at WVU.  I love to teach and volunteer, I am active in my church and community.  I love to watch football (Go Steelers!) and some basketball, play cards and dance (Zumba in my own living room).

 Hi!  :-)

  • We were married August 15, 2010.  Smile

  • Welcome!  This is a great group of women.  I am also an educator.  I taught middle school for 8 years and now am a professor of education at a small liberal arts university in Ohio.  We have several teachers on this board.

  • Thank you for the welcome.  How often do people usually visit this board?

  • Hello! Welcome to the board! I too am a teacher...Kindergarten. :-)

I would say that most of us visit the board once a day to once a week. We were VERY active on The Knot before our weddings...but not so much on The Nest. Myself included...I tend to lurk now more than post....guess I've gotten a bit lazy now that all the planning is over. ;-)

Welcome again! And if you ever need a sounding board for anything...The August Ladies are the best for advice!

  • Hi and welcome!  I also used to be a teacher in Philadelphia (1st grade).  I moved to San Diego about 3 years ago, and here I am a nanny.  I stop by this board every day, but I don't start posts very often.  I think when we were on the knot there was always something wedding-related to post about.  Now it's slower, but still steady.  And hopefully with more new people stopping by, there will be more posting :)

  • Welcome!  I am also a teacher (Pre-K this year, hoping to move back to 2nd grade next year!).  I check in every day or two but spent alot of time over on the Getting Pregnant board.

  • Welcome to the board!  I'm a teacher, also (6,7,8th grade Language Arts).  Our board has been kind of slow lately, but I usually check once every other day.  I used to be on all day long on The Knot, but I'm still a pretty steady poster/reader here.  This is a great group of ladies!  Glad to have you!
  • Welcome!  pp have got it right; we were SUPER busy during our Knot days.

Nesting is more periodic for me, but this is still my favorite board, and the girls are supportive and always honest without being tactless or rude when you seek advice.

I teach musical theater/dance to kids 4-5yrs and 11-18yrs...when I'm not doing it myself that is!

    :-)

    You'll like us, I swear!

  • Welcome! We sure have a lot of teachers around here... I'm not cut out to deal with other people's kids, but I do have a math degree.

  • Hi and Welcome!

This is a great board of ladies!

I am also in elementary education (currently laid off) and enjoy volunteering!             I started taking Zumba classes a few months ago, and LOVE it.  I've discovered plenty of YouTube videos I can follow along with at home, on my computer too.  I have been thinking about getting the video game as well.

HOWEVER, I am a JET fan. So, it looks like we have an exciting Sunday ahead of us-lol.

  • HI and welcome! I am a teacher as well...social sciences, Native studies, special education and technically music, but haven't taught that since Teacher's College 12 years ago! I am in the Secondary panel, so my students range from 14 - 18/19.  Teenagers...always interesting to say the least!

This group of ladies is fantastic, and as the PPs have mentioned, we were super busy during the planning process...especially the last month, remember ladies? Seating plans, final numbers, last minute details, stress, anxiety, excitement?!?!?!  Seems like so long ago now...or just like yesterday at times...but ultimately this group is super! And I am sure that as we get settled in, our board will pick up more and more.

Check often! And welcome again!!...Oh, and CONGRATULATIONS of your wedding! :)
