So random, I know!

Have any of you every made/seen any fairly simple sea creature/bird costumes?  I'm compiling some ideas for my show.

Parents are responsible for the costumes so I'm trying to keep things as simple and inexpensive as possible and most costumes I have no problem coming up with simple costuming ideas but the sea creatures/birds aren't coming to mind quickly.  I haven't spent much time searching online yet but I'm trying to ask around for some ideas to get started until I have some time to sit down and look (or assign a parent to).  Smile

  • This was on Always Sunny in Philadelphia, so you might be able to find a better photo, but she went as a peacock at Halloween.  She wore a green dress, then had these "feathers" strapped on like a backpack.  I think you could even make the feathers out of cardboard.  Then a feathered mask... I think it's cute and it might be easy!

    Ooh!  Good one!  Thanks!

  • My friend'sgranddaughter was an octopus.  She had a pink leotard, tights and shoes and wore pinky makeup.  Her mom found a large white picture hat sun hat.  She covered it with pink tulle and then cut a lot of pink tulle strips that hung down from the hat at random lengths.  You could stop there, but she took a short strip of white battery operated tiny lights and wound and tacked them to the inside of the hat.  It was VERY cute!
My baby girl is a married woman...and now my baby girl HAS a baby girl. Time unfolds in such an amazing way. I've been blessed!
  • My upstairs neighbor was a chicken for Halloween (her hubby was Colonel Sanders, lol!) and it was adorable! She took a white stretchy tunic and sewed  a white feather boa around the bottom hem, the neckline and to a headband with an orange cardboard beak. Finish it off with white stockings covered by orange knee-high socks with black flats and you're done! You can easily mix and match colors to make pretty much any bird.
