FRIG! Breastmilk

I'm getting Abe's stuff ready for daycare. I just realized that all that frozen milk that I had ready to send all has dairy in it! SHITT! Do you think I could hold onto it for another few months and hopefully he will grow out of the...whatever is going on...and he could have it before it goes bad? I hate the thought of having to throw away all that milk...all that hard work. Ugh.

Re: FRIG! Breastmilk

  • hang onto it.... worse case scenario: in a few months when it expires you throw it away, I wouldn't throw it away now!  That would be like throwing away a diamond ring because it got dirty!

  • Definitely hang onto it!  If it is dairy, he may grow out of it.  Or in a couple weeks you may find out it isn't dairy that's bugging him, and it's good to go.

  • I agree, hang on to it. I ran into the same thing when I cut out dairy I had a major oversupply at first and had over 500oz frozen that I couldn't use. I ended up donating it to a woman in MA and felt great about helping someone out. Although when we got a second opinion and found out he was fine with dairy I wish I had it back! :)

  • I still have frozen BM in the freezer.  I just can't get rid of it.  I think Joe will have to do it.  Just like PP said, you could find out in 2 weeks that it isn't the dairy that's bugging him and then you can use it.  Or you find out at 4 or 6 months that's he's outgrown it and it'll still be good.  Oh, and good luck today going back to work!  I'll be thinking of you!
  • I agree - keep it!!!  Went through the exact same thing w/ Jake around 3-4 months old and found out dairy was fine in the end...I was very happy I kept the frozen BM :o).  BTW good job getting off to work and daycare this morning!!!  Hang in there!

  • Definitely keep it. I may be terrible, but in a few months if you use a few oz mixed with non dairy milk? That's probably what I'd do, but I'm a bad mommy when it came to giving up dairy.
