Raised Ranch Help!

So we bought a raised ranch in 2006, b/c we love the neighborhood, school system, lot, and value.  The only part we don't like is the RAISED RANCH!  Small bedrooms, hasn't been updated in forever, and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to rearrange the living in an interesting way.  And the living room flows into the kitchen and dining room, and I can't figure out how/what to paint.  Love keeping things light, and love blues, but I don't want to whole house to be blue.  We're finally in a position to update a bit and replace some of the things that need replacing.  Anyone have raised ranch experience/suggestions?  Thanks!

Re: Raised Ranch Help!

  • ugh. i hear you. i hated living in a raised ranch!

i am into blues too. i ended up picking one paint for my dinning room and i went one or 2 shades darker for my kitchen. so they go together nicely, but seperate the areas. know what i mean?

  • My Mom's house is a ranch, not a raised ranch. She just painted her kitchen and hall a pretty cornflower blue. The adjacent living room is a tan/milk chocolate color. Looks really nice together. She does have an open doorway that she was able to use to clearly divide between the colors though.

  • We live in a split level ranch, never once update except for appliances, since it was built in the 60's. I did each bedroom a shade of blue or green so for the kitchen and living room I ended up doing a neutral beige and blue accents instead.  Its going to take a while to really finish our old house but its worth it!
