Mamas a question for you`

I have a good friends baby shower this Sunday, they don't know what they are having.

I'm sure you loved all your gifts, but did you rather the practical ones like diapers, wipes (boring stuff:) or some of the fun stuff, cute socks etc...

I'd like to really get them something they need (I'm going off the registry)but I also want to get them stuff they need.
After the baby DH and I are going to give them a gift card for a dinner out, and a free babysitting pass from us (if they trust us!) We need to work on our babysitting skill if we ever think of TTC

  • As fun as cute socks/clothes are I totally liked the practical gifts "better" diapers and wipes get $$$ after a while.

  • I would go practical. We got a lot of the cute stuff when Lydia was born...which is nice also!!

  • I vote for something useful. Not that I use regular diapers but that is something I would like to get if I was they get pricey. And be sure to include a gift receipt incase they get doubles or triples of things like I did.

Oh and I love the idea of your giving them a gift card and a night out after the baby is born. Very sweet.

  • I preferred the practical stuff...like diapers, wipes, plain white onesies, A&D ointment, Desitin, and baby powder.  That, in my house, still gets used every day.

  • I am going to be the opposite, I have to admit I love  the rattles and brightly colored play things people gave me. I had no idea what to register for as far as toys, but other mama's gave me some great stuff. You pretty much can't go wrong with any of the Bright Starts or Lamaze items. They are usually brightly colored and make noise and babies can safely chew on them.

Here are some of the toys Norah loves:

    rattle

Sophie - we got this as a gift, and I had never heard of it till we received it, but Norah loves it.

    carseat toys

crinkle teether - we have the lion and Norah goes crazy for it

    rings

Or you can pair a pack of diapers with a rattle and it is something fun and useful.

  • I always get one practical gift off the registry and then a fun/cute gift like a small stuffed animal or cutesy thing to tie to the gift bag or wrapping paper instead of using bows.

  • I Loved getting the cute stuff, but practical things were HUGE.

So maybe do something practical and a small fun toy to go with it.

And the after baby thing is a great idea!
