Hardwood floors & granite counters ?
I'm moving to a new home with hardwood floors and granite counter tops and i have no idea how to clean either. I googled what products to use on both and no specifics came up. What do you find works best? If you could include the kind of mop and products i'd appreciate it. Thanks!

Re: Hardwood floors & granite counters ?
I like Method granite cleaner sold at Target. I use it to shine them up and it smells great. I do this part with a soft fleece rag; microber would work great as well. You can also wipe down with a wet cloth with a small amount of mild dish detergent wrung out. Do not use any acids as they can eat through the protective coating - this includes vinagar or lemon cleaners and Windex. Try to find out from the builder/owners if the granite is sealed (some dark granites don't require it) and if it's be redone at any point. If it's a light granite that requires resealing it will probably need to be done once per year or so. If water no longer beads up on the granite you may need to reseal. It's easy and the sealants are available at most big-box stores.
For the wood floors, I love my Shark Steam Mop. It's hot enough to kill germs, but dries nearly instantly and not so hot as to possibly warp the floor. Some people are concerned about using steam, in which case I would suggest a mild wood floor cleaner like Bona. A microfiber dust mop can be used for both dry dusting and mopping/buffing and the heads are washable. Try to dry the floor as much as possible after wet cleaning to prevent discoloration and warping. Again, try to find out from the current owner what type of wood floors they are and if they are sealed. That can make a difference in the type of products you want to use.
