Im being a PW... Do you wear your shoes in other people's homes?
A post on TN on FB asked if you wear your shoes when you go to other people's homes or if you take them off at the door. It turns out its a regional thing on the other board, with the South always keeping shoes on. I personally find it so strange to walk into someone's foyer and take off your shoes. If people come over to my home I feel like even I have to have shoes on. I also always have slippers on, I just dont go barefoot at all. One other poster even talked about outdoor shoes vs. indoor shoes and bringing separate shoes to wear inside.
It all just baffled me. So do you take off your shoes at other people's homes, or leave them on?
Re: Im being a PW... Do you wear your shoes in other people's homes?
We follow the rules of the house we're visiting. I don't find it odd if someone requests we take our shoes off, I understand that some people are weird about tracking in germs to their floor, especially if they have a baby.
My MIL has a sign on her door that says PLEASE REMOVE SHOES
Ditto. We aren't filthy or anything, but we're definitely not overly concerned with clean floors. I've all but completely given up on our floors until we're back down to two dogs instead of four.
I also follow the customs of the home I'm visiting. And if I'm unsure, I just ask what they prefer. I feel like I'm making myself a little too much at home if I just automatically take them off without asking! But with friends who I know prefer no shoes in the house, I go ahead and just take them off without asking.
As for people visiting my home, I don't care either way as long as they're comfortable.
I am with you on this. I detest feet...they really gross me out. I barely put my own feet on my furniture.
