If your blog is private, come in!
I want to revamp my blog and start posting about the journey my life is taking me on. However, my SIL "follows" my blog and I don't want her being able to read my posts. I'd like to make my blog private, and only allow those who I know to read its contents.
How does that work?
Re: If your blog is private, come in!
I made mine private for a while. I really don't think anyone read it b/c it doesn't show up in google reader. You have to be logged into your account that the blog author has added you as and physically go to the blog to read it. Its simple to do, but a pain for readers, I think? (correct me if I am wrong?) I ended up starting a new blog under a different email address. I really didn't mind it being public, but with it connect to my main email with my first and last name, anyone that knows you can find it and some of my thoughts I rather keep away from family, etc.
That's what I'm thinking, but I didn't know if it would keep all my "followers" or if they'd have to send me a request when they tried to view it next....
Maybe I'll just start over from scratch.
You can change the setting but you have to add the person you want to read. It won't automatically add all of your current followers.
it is a setting change, and I think it keeps your followers, but they still won't be able to read it unless you put their email address on an "allowed" list and Crystal is right, updates won't show up in google reader. I made my private at one point, but then I realized it didn't show up on GR and it was easy enough for me to just be more anonymous than to keep it private so I went back to public.
However, I don't blame you at all for wanting to make it private! I'll still read it
