Posting from Mexico b/c I am wondering if this is something I should care about now, or take care of when I get back, or as I suspect, a complete scam. Every day since Monday I have gotten a voicemail from someone (Scott J) at "Michigan Accident Services" or "Michigan Accident Services Bureau." He tells me that he is calling about the accident I was and has some "good news" and just wants to make sure he has all my information.
This sounds like a lawyer to me, looking for a lawsuit to file b/c I was rear ended. Thoughts? It does not sound like the appraiser I am waiting to hear from, or I would guess he would have identified himself as such, and probably looked at the note on my file that says "out of the country for a week."
Thanks ladies! Mexico is awesome. I'm going to the beach shortly.
Re: Michigan Accident Services?
I work in the auto claim industry and have never heard of this before. I googled "Michigan Accident Services" and am convinced that this may be a scam. I am not positive though. I have never even gotten a phone call from anyone representing Michigan Accident Services.
Question, did you have to pay your deductible even though you were rear ended?

Ok, thats what I thought. It sounds like somehow they have gotten your information (maybe through your insurance company?) and they want to take care of filing the mini tort for you? I would call your insurance company and ask them if they work with this company. Like I said though, I have never heard nor dealt with them before. Good luck!
This is my plan, when I get back. I want to see how many more voicemails he leaves me! The more VM, the more angry I am likely to be when I return his call.
I am guessing he got my info from the police report.

If you filed a police report, that info is usually public. It could be some type of firm (law, insurance) fishing for clients. Maybe not a scam but not the most ethical way to do business.
I was in an accident on 11/27 ( a teenager backed into the front side of my car) and today I received a call from the Bureau of Michigan Accident Services . The man said his name was Scott.
(I was not at home at the time so this message was left on my answering machine.)
A number to call this Scott person was left, but I did a reverse number look up and it said this number was a metro pc cell phone..... So I really think you are right and that this is some sort of a scam. And I am sure that the info was given from the police report, because Scott asked to by name, to speak to me or the passenger who was in my car at the time...
I do not plan on calling the number that was left! Please let me know if you find out any other information.

Not a Scam! They helped me with information and advice after my accident.
They do not charge anything and are a free service.
good luck.
