How far in advance did you decide on...

...when your b. party was (if it wasn't a surprise).

Btwn DH and I, we'll have 3 this summer. We're trying to a vacation, baseball games, races, etc and obviously want to be able to attend the parties, but so far no one has any clue when they'll be.

Obviously we/I am a hard-core planner, but I'm just trying to guess when we'll be able to make concrete plans for summer events.

I am a planner and wanted the date decided on six months before. I think my sisters (who didn't give me any say) decided about two months before.

I always had a date in mind, but it wasn't decided on for sure, until probably 6 weeks before the wedding.

Mine was the week before the wedding because my girlfriends wanted to wait until my sister arrived. They told me about 6 weeks in advance, but knew my schedule would be free because my family was arriving and they'd been planning with my sister.

I would plan everything else, and then see when the parties fall. If you already have plans and are in the wedding, you prolly can have some say as to when they are

Mine was in August, so 2 months before the wedding, but that was because we were going to Vegas and had to plan around so many schedules. My sister worked it our so it was a bit of a birthday celebration too for myself, my other sister, and our cousin since our birthdays are about a week apart.

That's what I'm thining. One I know that the bride definitely would move in order for me to come and the other, the bride missed mine, so while I'd be sad to miss it, I guess hopefully she'd understand, but hopefulyl I wouldn't have to!

At the time my MOH had a job that worked a lot of weekends, so I would say in July we decided on 2 Saturdays before the wedding. Then in like early September she asked if we could change it to the week before (which was fine, and what I wanted anyways.) But I planned it all (kinda offended MOH, but she didn't agree with the stuff I wanted to do).
