Ok. So I wanted to have something small, my sisters, RC's sisters, grandparents, but then word got out and aunts and uncles decided Dylan's party would be "fun". So then I had to add them in and if I added one I had to add the other and so on you get the idea. Well now its a party of 30 and trying to figure out all the food and everything is frustrating. We are getting a 6ft sub, my sister is making baked ziti, and then I was going to order a tray of wings, plus chips and all that stuff. I am just getting so stressed out with it all and wish I would have just kept it small and didn't listen to everyone else who wanted to come. Anyway, thanks for reading!! Just needed to vent!
I am excited for Dylan's 1st birthday of course, just wish I would have stuck to my original plan and told everyone I was just doing something small.
Re: Dylan's Party..ugh
Ugh. I hate when people invite themselves. If the host/hostess wants you there, they will invite you. I'm sorry you have to deal with that and I hope you can still enjoy the day and not worry about it all.
As a side not, my B&SIL do these huge parties for the twins and invited extended family. DH and I have agreed that it's not our style and we plan to do parties with just us and the kids and maybe their friends once they are old enough to really have them. We do worry about what the expectations are going to be though once and if we ever have kids. Moreso his family than mine, but DH is really good about putting his foot down so I hope we aren't ever in this situation.
P.S. How in the world do you have an almost one year old?!?! I just can't believe for quickly it all goes.

I totally understand. If we just did immediate family (down to Mariela's Aunts, Uncles, and 1st cousins) it would be 18 people for her party. Well, of course that isn't good enough for the first girl in the family, so Alexi wants to invite down to his first cousin level...total guest count is 44 and that doesn't include any of our closest friends that we had wanted to invite. Ugh! I started looking up food options to avoid having my MIL and myself cook (to give us a chance to enjoy the party for a change) and right now I'm actually leaning towards using a local grocery store for catering. We shall see....I'm still hoping Alexi lets me cut the guest list in half. Oh and out of those 18 people- 6 people are my family!
GL, I hope his party goes well for you.
This is exactly what is happening. About 8 of these 30 are my family members! I actually went to the grocery store for catering so that's done.
LOL, I'm glad I'm not the only one! I love my in-laws to death, but seriously...I think they need to stop breeding so much!
I really had wanted something smaller with just the 18 people guest list and just like 6 of our closest friends. Next year, we'll go smaller for sure and it'll be even easier once she's school age and we can just invite a couple of her friends and just do something with them for a kids type birthday party and then just have a small cake with the in-laws when we gather on Sundays. This year it's just because it's her first birthday.
I think I'll be going the grocery store route as well...every place else I can think of doesn't have big enough platters and our local grocery store even has the same 6' subs that Subway offers for a fraction of the cost. I can't wait to hear the details of how his party goes and see the pics.
