Winter Electric Bill

I know it was cold last month, but our electrical was higher than I expected. It was $476 Indifferent compared to the $190 bill in December.

Was your bill higher than you expected?

Re: Winter Electric Bill

  • $233. Not bad at all, but we don't really use the heat THAT much.  It went no higher than 67.
  • That was us last year.  GRU was calling customers to let them set up payment plans.  Our bill last December was more than doubled than the year before.
  • Our December bill was $110. We haven't gotten January yet but it's usually about $150 during this time of the year, with the exception of last year it was $200.

  • We are in Tallahassee but our utility bill the last few months has been around $400 for everything...water, sewer, gas and repayment of an energy loan we have through them.

  • Mine was only $20 higher than last month. But I am not happy about it being progressively higher each month.. Need to do something before it gets over $200 for me.

  • ours was 212, which is high. we keep the heat at 60* and use a space heater, so our heat rarely runs. i'm trying to get it back down below 200.

  • Ours was $216.  December was $248 and November was $253.  Ditto Devon that we don't really use it much.

Sorry yours was such a shock!  That hurts.

  • Mine was $61. Don't hate! We almost never use heat, and when we do it's set at 60 deg. Other than that... I don't know.  Our electric company is FPL, which is different from Jax. Also, it doesn't include water or anything else, but that isn't very high either because we have septic, not sewer.
  • I'm in Tallahassee and my electric bill has been between 300 and 400 this winter. It was in the 200s last year.

  • Great, now I'm scared to go check the mail!

Our Nov/Dec bill was higher than we expected given how little we were using the ac/heat, so even though we were gone for over a week in our last billing period, I'm skeered.

  • I should add that I have been freezing and the heat has been set on 72. I turned it back down...
  • We've slowly gone done to sleeping with the heat at 70 instead of 73.  Our electric is $90, but our gas is $202.  I don't think it's bad considering how much we use the heat.
  • Ours was around $70. We keep the heat on, but we also only live in 1100 sq feet and have FPL, so maybe those both make a difference
