Would you be annoyed?
Would you be annoyed if your doctor left the practice and no one told you, and wouldn't have told you until your appointment, unless you happened to need to change your appointment and found your doctor no longer listed on the website when you googled the phone number.
No letter, no mention when I went in Monday to have blood drawn. I had to ask the receptionist flat out, I even got a new appointment time before asking, so she had lots of chance to say, oh yeah your appointment is not with your doctor.
Luke's doctor left his practice and the practice sent us literally 4 letters about it. My doctor, nada.
The whole point of me finding a PCP was to get an MD and not rely on the NP at the women's clinic. Now I will see a PA, who I am sure is very qualified, but I was looking for a Doctor.
I'll see her on Tues. and see how it goes.
Anyone know if it is cheaper to see the PA in a practice?

It would totally annoy me - I however see the PA anyway, my "doctor" is male and I HATE to see male doctors.
Josh's doctor has done this many times...They have moved twice and not told their patients we just see it pop up in the paper and that is how we all find out.
I would be EXTREMELY annoyed. There is no excuse for that. I'm guessing that the doctor left because of some disagreement and the practice didn't want anyone leaving to follow the doctor. But a patient's relationship with a PCP is important and very personal, so I would feel very angry if it were just assumed that I would be okay with having a different doctor. I LOVE when a doctor's office says "your doctor had an emergency/won't be in that day/etc.-- would you be willing to see another doctor in our office or would you prefer to find a time and day when your doctor is available?"
Not to mention, some insurance companies require notification of changes in your PCP in order to cover services...
I thought that something bad like that was up when I asked the woman on the phone if my doctor had left and she gave a big hesitation.
But then she said that the doctor moved to New Mexico to be near her children and grandchildren. Not exactly something you would need to cover up.
Good point about the insurance, but I am pretty sure that mine doesn't care who as long as in is in network, and even then I am not sure they care that much, since it's a high deductible with HSA plan and we pay for almost everything OOP until we spend 3,000 each.
Yes, this happened to me twice. First time, I gave them the benefit of the doubt because they were well-regarded and convenient. Second time, I left the practice.
I'm annoyed for you. I followed a doctor when she left the first practice, then I started seeing one of her NP's, since it's much easier to schedule with them. Two great NP's have since left the office, and I never know until I call to schedule my next appointment with them.
I am totally unimpressed with the current NP's in that office, and it's no longer convenient for me to cross over into Maine for a doctor's appointment, so I'm trying to find a better doctor's office in Dover, but no one seems to have anyone worth recommending...
