Tasty Thursday

Share your favorite Super Bowl style recipe - in other words, your favorite appetizers, dips, snack mixes, and beverages :)

Re: Tasty Thursday

  • Each recipe title is a link :)

Buffalo Chicken Dip (I make with rotisserie chicken as opposed to canned chicken, also I use a small slow cooker to keep this warm)

Sloppy Joes (I serve slider style with small rolls)

    Philly Cheesesteak Egg Rolls

  • Go Jets!

7 Layer dip - but I leave out the olives because I hate them! But this always goes fast...

  • Pepperoni Bread: Regular white bread recipe.  Before baking, roll out dough, like with mozzarella cheese and pepperoni.  Then roll up dough like a jelly roll and bake in a bread pan for normal time.  Delicious.

My team (Patriots) is out :(  so I'm rooting for Green Bay all the way.

Bay what white bread recipe do you use?  This sounds delish :)

I make something similar, and it goes super fast.

My other favorite is chili (I make it in the morning and ignore it in the Crock Pot for the rest of the day.)  My current recipe is on my blog (http://t.co/Wp0TGNy); last time I added about 1/2 cup of spicy BBQ sauce and it was delicious. Use whatever ground meat and beans you have on hand.

I also make a Spinach-Artichoke DIp that I can't find right now, but I'll try it from memory:

Sautee 2-3 TBL of butter with 4-5 cloves of chopped garlic in a large saucepan until melted (5 min or so.)

While sauteing, unwrap microwave a block of frozen chopped spinach about 5 minutes.  Just barely thaw it. I usually rise it off in the sink to take away the weird fishy smell.

Also chop up one can of artichoke hearts. (the smaller the better)

Stir the spinach and artichokes into the butter garlic mix and stir on medium heat until separated and warmed thoroughly.

Add in two 16-ounce tubs of sour cream (I usually use fat free; you can't tell.)

Add in two 8-ounce packages of cream cheese (Again, low fat if you can find it.)

Add a TBL of Worchestire  sauce, and garlic powder if desired (I like it realllly garlicy so I add almost a TBL)

Continue stiring until well blended, then add 1 cup Parmesan cheese and stir well.

Serve immediately or transfer to medium Crock Pot and keep on low heat.

I usually serve it with chopped up french or sourdough bread, but tortilla chips work well too!

  • ugh. Is anyone else having issues with HTML stuff on here? It won't let me link or even bold/italics anything in my posts.

I wonder if it's my Mac?

  • Linds -- I have no idea!  LOL.  I've never actually made it, my mom always insists on making it, as it's her specialty.

I would think any white bread recipe -- made with white flour and yeast -- would work.  Although I bet bread made with wheat flour would be just as good, and probably healthier!

  • These are both recent discoveries:

    Bacon-wrapped little smokies:

Cut bacon into 1/3 of a strip.  Wrap a piece of bacon around a cocktail weiner, secure with toothpick.  Continue til you've wrapped them all.  Put them in a baking dish, like a 9x13 pan, in a single layer.  Sprinkle with 1/4 to 1/2 cup brown sugar (your preference, I like 1/2 cup), bake at 350 for 40 minutes.  Move to crock put on warm setting to serve.

    Summer Sausage & Cream Cheese:

Layer 3 slices of summer sausage with cream cheese in between each, so you have 2 layers of cream cheese.  Put 6 toothpicks into the stack, and then cut into sixths.  Don't cut too hard or the cheese will fall out.  This is a delicious, but kind of weird, combination - don't knock it til ya try it :)

My grandma has always done these, with a slice of pickle in the middle.

I'm so hungry right now.... both of these sound so good and I've been craving cream cheese... so not cool.
